Rotary members visit acupuncture hospital

Ludhiana, June 20
A team of Rotary Club along with the President, Mr S.S. Chopra, Mr Sarbjeet Singh, secretary, Major S.S. Khosla, Mr S.P. Karkara, Mr I.S. Grewal, Mr S.P. Puri and Mr Romesh Sood visited the Dr D.N. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital and Drug Deaddiction Centre today.

The team praised the humanitarian work being done by the hospital and also the efforts of the hospital to eradicate drug addiction.

On the occasion, Mr S.S. Chopra donated a cheque of Rs 5,000 for the development of the hospital and said in future also Rotary Club would help this hospital.

Dr Inderjit Singh, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, thanked the club members and said the hospital was serving the patients for the past 29 years and for the past 6 years, the hospital was running a drug de-addiction centre.

Geetansh continues to dominate with bat

Ludhiana, June 20
Geetansh Khaira, a student of Class VIII, continued to dominate with bat, hitting 71 runs to enable his team, Tony Mahajan XI, to register seven-wicket victory over Anil Bharti XI (third win in-a-row) in the 8th Chaman Lal Malhotra Cricket Cup Tournament (u-14) being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association at the Arya College for Boys ground here today. In the second match, Charanjit Singh Ahluwalia XI thrashed Prof F.C. Chopra XI by 100 runs.

Anil Bharti XI, bating first, scored 147 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Main scorers were Shivam Passi and Tarsem, who contributed 36 and 46 runs, respectively. For Tony Mahajan XI, Dhrone Kanish claimed four for 22.

Brief scores: Anil Bharti XI — 146 for 7 (Shivam Passi 36, Paras 13, Tarsem 46 and Sanchit 19; Dhrone Kanish 4 for 22 and Salil Verma 2 for 14).

Tony Mahajan XI — 148 for 3 (Salil Verma 36, Geetansh Khaira 71 n.o. and Jashan Sidhu 5; Paras 1 for 17 and Shivam Passi 1 for 15)

In the second match, in reply to Charanjit Singh Ahluwalia XI’s score of 232 for 7 in 30 overs, Prof F.C. Chopra XI could muster only 132 runs.

Brief scores: Charanjit Singh Ahluwalia XI — 232 for 7 (Kawaljot Singh 45, Ketan 76, Rahul 13, Shubham 19 and Karan 12; Sunny 4 for 40 and Asim 1 for 31).

Prof F.C. Chopra XI — 132 all out: Anmol 22, Sunny 23 and Rahul 36; Shubham 3 for 14 and Baldev 3 for 21).
