Course in communication, presentation skills Ludhiana, May 24 The course is generally designed to equip teachers of engineering and non-engineering disciplines with knowledge and skills to communicate effectively in the classroom as well as in the institution. Delivering the inaugural address, Prof B.M. Dhir, ex-Professor and Head, NITTTR, Chandigarh, emphasised the need for inculcating effective communication and presentation skills among lecturers in order to improve the quality of passouts form the institution so that they could contribute in the industrial and economic development of the country. Dr Sunil Dutt, Assistant Professor and course coordinator, from NITTTR, Chandigarh, delivered an overview of the topics to be covered during the course. The topics comprise communication concepts, type and importance, barriers to classroom communication, effective reading and writing, speaking and writing skill, non-verbal communication, role of media in communicating and interpersonal relation and planning for presentations. Ms H.K. Toor, Principal, Government Polytechnic for Women, Ludhiana, while proposing the vote of thanks, discussed the need of organising the course as communication formed the basis of all teaching and learning processes and enabled teachers to make effective presentations. She said this course would go a long way in improving the quality of passouts from polytechnics. |
PTU centres’ function today Ludhiana, May 24 Students from Ludhiana, Jagraon, Samrala, Khanna, Barnala, Sunam, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Sirhind, Mandi Gobindgarh, Dhuri, Mullanpur, Doraha, Bhawanigarh, Raikot, Ahmedgarh, Moga, Faridkot and Ferozepore will take part in the event, in which several IT and cultural activities will be organised. Teams from different institutes will participate in events like IT quiz, poster making, solo dance, skit, modelling, rangoli, bhangra, flower arrangement, just a minute, solo song, group dance, gidha, parody, mehndi and fashion show. The event will be inaugurated by Dr A.A. Siddiqui, Director-General of Punjab Police. Mr Malkiat Singh Birmi, Minister for Jails, Housing and Urban Development, will be the chief guest of academic awards distribution function ceremony to be held in the afternoon. Dr S.K. Salwan, Vice-Chancellor, PTU, will be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and closing ceremony. |
