Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures rose in Jammu and Kashmir, east Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were largely above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, markedly above normal in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in Haryana and Punjab, above normal in Uttar Pradesh and normal in Rajasthan. The highest temperature in the region was 45.4°C recorded at Ludhiana.

Forecast valid until the morning of May 17: Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Isolated dust storms/thunderstorms are likely in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 17: Hot day. Mainly clear sky. Likely to become partly cloudy towards afternoon/evening with possibility of thundery development in some areas. Maximum temperature will be around 43°C.
