Warrants issued against smuggler, two others who gave bail amount

Sonepat, May 15
The Additional Sessions Judge, Mr J. S. Jangra, has issued warrants against three persons, namely Narinder of Harsana village and Dharamvir of Bholapur village who had furnished bail bonds of Rs 50,000 each for the release of Mohammad Tyab, a smuggler of fake currency notes, on one-month interim bail and fixed May 26 as the next date of hearing.

The Judge also issued the same warrants against Ramesh, a lambardar, who had identified them in the court before the release of the smuggler.

It is stated that Mohammad Tyab had been lodged in Sonepat district jail for the past about 18 months and he was released on one-month interim bail on January 30 by the court.

The period of interim bail expired on February 3 last and the next date of hearing in the case was March 31 but the accused failed to turn up on that day. Thereupon, the court issued
warrants against the persons who had furnished the bail bonds on their behalf and the lambardar who had identified them in the court.

The accused, Mohammad Tyab, who belonged to Bangladesh, had been living in Delhi before his arrest.

He had been engaged in the business of fake currency notes along with Sharafat Ali. When the Gohana police busted the gang of smugglers involved in fake currency notes and the arrested members of this gang disclosed their identity as Mohammad Tyab and Mohammad Akhtar Hussain and they were arrested later on.

Delhi to host the Legends of India festival

Music buffs in the Capital are in for a treat with eminent artists like Yamini Krishnamurthy, Louis Banks and Shankar Mahadevan scheduled to participate in the week long DMA Music Festival, which begins from May 21 here.

This year, the festival will introduce 12 new artists Eminent artistes like Yamini Krishnamurthy, Kiran Sehgal, Budhaditya Mukherjee, Girija Devi and Shiv Kumar Sharma are among those who will participate in the festival, known as the Legends of India festival.

Other names include Louis Banks, A Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Bijoyditya Mukherjee, Ajoy Chakraborty, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Sivamani, Karl Peters and Sridhar Parasarthy.

The Legends of India confers a lifetime achievement award in the field of music, dance to an outstanding performer for unrelenting effort in the promotion of traditional art and culture.

The awardee will be announced on the eve of the festival. The selection panel for the award includes Attorney General of India Soli Sorabjee, educationist Dr Varsha Das, UGC chairman Nigavekar, secretary general of the Sangeet Natak Academy Jayant Kastuar and music critic Prakash Wadhera.
