CISF down Ambala XI in hockey tourney

Chandigarh, April 29
On the second day of the ongoing second Dharam Singh Memorial six-a-side hockey tournament at the Sector 18 Hockey Stadium, the Central Industrial Security Force and Haryana Sixers moved up in their respective matches.

In the first tie, the CISF downed Ambala XI 13-5. It was Naved Kamal of the CISF who scored eight goals with four in each half. In the second tie, Haryana Sixers outplayed Spartan XI 14-10. The main scorers were Ravinder 4, Parveen 4 and Ajay 3.

Coaching Centre - Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, beat Coaching Centre- Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40, by 19-10 on the second day of the 19th Chandigarh Sub-Junior Handball Championship being played here today at the DAV Senior Secondary School Sector 8 grounds. The half time score was 11-7. The main scorers for winners were Manpreet Bawa-seven, Bhim and Sandeep- four each. For losers Paramjeet and Pardeep scored four goals each.

In the second boys semi-final, CC-Sector 42 team A defeated CC, Sector 21 by 21-14 while the half time score was 12-7. For winners, Manish Sharma scored 10 goals, Amarjeet eight while Dinesh and Gagandeep scored five and four goals, respectively.

In the girls semi-final, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 defeated CC, Sector 42 team B by 12-6 while the half time score was 7-3. For winners, Shivani scored six goals, Renu Sharma four goals. For losers, Anita, Savita and Vishu scored two goals each.

In the second semi-final, CC, Sector 42, team B defeated Sacred Heart School, Sector 26 by 9-7. The half time score was 4-4. For winners, Anu Bharti scored three goals, Shashi and Minakshi scored two goals each. For losers, Shivani and Sonia scored two goals each. Glory Khanna and Rekha scored one goal each.

50 notices issued on water misuse

Mohali, April 29
The Public Works Department here has issued notices to more than 50 houses in the township for misusing water for washing cars and watering lawns. Special teams have been deputed by the department to monitor the use of water in the township in the morning and evening.

While 38 notices were given to households in Phase I to Phase VII, the rest were issued to the residents of other phases. TNS
