Jat meets Jat after 13 years in Outer Delhi

The Outer Delhi parliamentary constituency is the largest in the country with 21 Assembly segments and 33.7 lakh voters. The ‘Wild West’ of NCT of Delhi, Outer Delhi is witnessing a contest between two Jats: Sahib Singh Verma of the BJP and Sajjan Kumar of the INC. There is a history to their contest. Sahib and Sajjan are facing each other after 13 years.

Fake ID card manufacturing racket busted
New Delhi, April 22
The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police today arrested Sandeep Kumar, alias Sonu, for allegedly running a fake ID card manufacturing unit in New Usmanpur in North-East district. He had been running the racket for the past two months. His accomplice is still absconding.

Antiques worth crores recovered, five held
New Delhi, April 22
With the arrest of five suspects, the North-West district police today claimed to have seized 13 antique idols of Jaina art worth crores of rupees. The suspects were identified as Avnish Rana (19), Rustam Sheikh, alias Chunu (22), Sunil Rana (20), Mushtaq (28) and Sanjay Sangwan (22), Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Singh said.

The Delhi High Court has cleared air around the tax to be imposed on the sale of aerated drinks at hotels and restaurants by holding that soft drinks will be taxable only at the point of first sale and it will be no different if the contents were poured into a glass for serving.

Robbery bid foiled; securitymen shoot 3 
Noida, April 22
The security guards of an oil factory in Dadri were able to avert a robbery by the armed criminals last night. In an exchange of fire between four intruding criminals and the security guards, three desperadoes were shot dead while the fourth was fighting for his life in a hospital.

The Delhi Police have put under suspension an assistant sub-inspector who was arrested by the Crime Branch sleuths for allegedly duping innocent unemployed persons of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing jobs to them.

Three persons assaulted by wrestlers

Three persons, including a shopkeeper and his brother, sustained injuries when they were attacked by some wrestlers at Kharkhauda town, 19 km from here last evening. According to a report, the wrestlers managed to escape after other shopkeepers assembled there.

Accountant shot dead by two youths

An accountant, identified as Mukesh, was allegedly shot dead by two youths in his house in Baba Colony here yesterday. According to a report, the assailants were spotted by the younger brother of the victim. The police have registered a case of murder and launched a hunt to apprehend the culprits.
