Beekeeping training course begins Ludhiana, April 19 According to Dr Gurdev Singh Deol, Head of the department, this is one of the two training courses which has been initiated at the PAU for beekeepers of the state. He says the other advance course on bee products will be organised next year. In this training course, the trainees will be imparted practical knowledge on selection of stock, different techniques of mass queen bee rearing, quality drone bee rearing, establishment of mating nuclei, gyne cell grafting, selective mating, maintaining queen bee banks and preparing bee packages. The beekeepers will also be imparted training on novel queen bee rearing techniques involving Karl-Jenter and Cup-Kit systems. Dr Jaswinder Bhalla is the course coordinator and Dr Pardeep Kumar Chhuneja is the technical coordinator of the course. |
Sacred Heart wins quiz Ludhiana, April 19 Students from Class V to X participated. The classes were divided in two categories. The first category had students from Classes V, VI and VII and the second category from Classes VIII, IX and X. The participating teams were: the host school, GRD Academy, GGN Public School, Kundan Vidya Mandir and Bhartiya Vidya Mandir. For the students of the junior category, there were three rounds named highest bidder round, clue round and buzzer round. The senior category had three rounds named ‘Health in your hands’, ‘Healthy brain round’ and a buzzer round. Mr Aditya Raj Kalia conducted the quiz. In the first category, the team of Mahek Gupta, Gurtej Singh and Hunar Khanna representing the host school won the first prize. The second prize went to the team of GGN Public School with Jaspreet Kaur, Ravneet Kaur and Simran Preet Kaur as its members and the third prize went to the team of Hiteshwar Mangat, Jasnoor Batra, Lokesh Anand representing Kundan Vidya Mandir. In the second category, the host school team represented by Navkiran, Arshiya and Ravijot won the first prize. The second prize went to the team of Kundan Vidya Mandir with Ratnakar Jain, Arshia Gupta and Gaurav Sharma as members and the third prize went to the team of GRD Academy with Ricky Gupta, Satpreet Kaur and Cahvi Gupta as members. |
Delhi Public School branch opens Ludhiana, April 19 Mr Narendra Kumar, chairman of the DPS Society, was the chief guest. Addressing students after the inauguration ceremony, he said the school had been designed on the most progressive lines and was poised to usher in new dimensions in school education. He said the school’s infrastructure had been planned to provide a modern, world class education environment. Mr Kumar said the school would house a number of technologically advanced facilities, including VSAT communications, video-conferencing, audio-visual amenities and state-of-the-art laboratories. He said the school’s plan would support industrial, cultural and artistic learning with extensive music, dance, art and craft facilities, an audio-visual and media production studio, exhibition rooms and a range of hobbies. Mr Sanjeev Kumar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the DPS, Ludhiana, said each school bus would be provided with a mobile phone to ensure instant communication and efficiency. He said these would be manned by drivers and conductors trained by the Indian Red Cross Society in providing first aid and would also have a designated teacher-in-charge for supervision and monitoring. |
