City boys record second win

Ludhiana, April 17
Varun Chitkara, Gagandeep Dhand and Jashanpreet Sidhu shared the spoils as Ludhiana won by a huge margin of 183 runs over Jalandhar in the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament (u-15) for the Sushil Bali Trophy at the Burlton Park, Jalandhar, today. They captured three wickets each. This was Ludhiana’s second victory. In their first encounter, they had defeated Amritsar. With this victory, Ludhiana secured four points from two matches.

Resuming at overnight score of 12 for 2, Jalandhar batsmen, except for Abhishek and Malkit Singh, failed to cope up with the Ludhiana bowlers’ accuracy. Abhishek and Malkit contributed 30 and 12 runs, respectively. Jalandhar’s innings folded at 116 runs after 35.3 overs.

Brief scores: Ludhiana — 299 for 9 in 90 overs; Jalandhar — 116 all out (Malkit Singh 12, Abhishek 30, Munish Sharma 10 and Mandeep 11 n.o; Varun Chitkara 3 for 44, Gagandeep Dhand 3 for 21 Jashanpreet Sidhu 3 for 9 and Sushyant Kohli 1 for 24)

Now, Ludhiana, in their third match will play against Minor Districts Zone-B here at the S.D. Government College.
