Forged will: ACP in the dock
New Delhi, April 8
The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch claimed to have arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) on charges of forgery and cheating. The accused, Lakhminder Singh Brar (56), posted at the District Investigating Unit of the North district, had grabbed a 1,300 square yards property worth crores on Mathura Road, by using forged documents.

NGO head held for duping visa applicant
New Delhi, April 8
The New Delhi district police today claimed to have arrested one Charles Robert, alias Syed Quiser Mehmood, who runs the NGO OPLIAN, for alleged forgery and cheating a girl of Rs 1,20,000 by promising to secure her a US visa.

Decomposed body of abducted boy found
Sonepat, April 8
The CIA officials have found the decomposed body of a three-year-old boy Ozu, alias Ojasvi, son of Dr Dharminder Sharma, owner of a private hospital at Farmana village. The body was found in a brick kiln at Bhatgaon village, about 15 km from here late last evening.

Librarian raped, killed by husband’s cousin

A man and his friend raped his cousin’s wife and later strangled her in Nyadar Ganj Mohalla, Dadri, on Wednesday.
The duo then arranged the naked body of the victim in the terrace to mislead the family into believing that some criminals had committed the act.

Four-year-old burnt to death in sleep

Faridabad, April 8 four-year-old girl was burnt to death after a thatched hut in which she was sleeping, caught fire in Marokhera village in the Palwal subdivision of the district.

Leopard’s hide seized; 39 more skins doing the round

The Special Operation Group of Meerut police arrested four persons and seized a leopard’s skin from them. Three of them were the agents of the skin smuggler Moh. Alam of Delhi.

Delhi Master Plan getting finishing touches, to be notified in 2004

The first draft of the Master Plan 2021 for the Capital will be submitted to the Government by October 2004. The notification in this regard is also expected to be issued during the current financial year.

Delhi ranks fifth in accident mortality rate
New Delhi, April 8
Even as the number of deaths due to road accidents in Delhi has come down from 2,000 in 1998 to 1,600 in 2003, the national Capital ranks fifth in terms of accident death rates in the country. According to a recent study, Delhi had an estimated annual rate of all injuries at 116 per 1000 population and annual rate of traffic related injuries at 29 per 1000 population.

Two persons arrested by the Crime Branch with an antique idol of ‘Asta Dhatu’ in the Capital Dacoity in Standard Chartered bank averted, 10 persons arrested

The New Delhi district police claimed to have arrested 10 persons and averted a dacoity bid in the Standard Chartered bank in Connaught Place. They were also involved in robbing briefcases, laptop computers, mobile phones and other accessories.

Prostitution racket busted, four girls rescued
New Delhi, April 8
With the arrest of two persons, including a woman, the East district police claimed to have rescued four girls forced into prostitution. Based on a secret information about flesh trade being carried out from a flat in Laxmi Nagar, the police raided the flat.

NEW DELHI: The Civil Judge (Junior Division), Ms Rajni Yadav, rejected the plea of a BA final year student, Anju, for the release of her roll number issued by the Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, for appearing the final examination.

FCI beat Collage Group, lift SAIL Trophy
New Delhi, April 8
Food Corporation of India (FCI) defeated Collage Group by 25 runs to lift the SAIL Trophy Cricket Championship at the Mohan Meakins ground at Mohan Nagar. Collage Group won the toss and opted to field, but it proved to be a costly guesswork as FCI made 187 for 8 in 40 overs and then dismissed Collage Group for 162 with nine balls to spare.

India Gate GHPS edge past Shahdara
New Delhi, April 8
Guru Harkrishan Public School (GHPS), India Gate defeated GHPS, Loni Road (Shahdara) 5-2 in the second All-India Sahibzada Ajit Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament, organised by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, at the Shivaji Stadium on Thursday. The winners led by 3-1 at half time.
