Rainfall: Weather was mainly dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell in east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departure: This was largely above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, markedly above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Haryana and Uttaranchal, above normal in west Uttar Pradesh and normal in east Uttar Pradesh. The highest temperature in the region was 42.2°C recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of April 9: Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Isolated duststorms/thunderstorms are likely in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of April 9: Mainly clear sky. Thundery development accompanied with squall is likely in some areas. Maximum temperature will be around 39°C.
