long-distance but suburban trains also on the Sonepat-Delhi section of
Northern Railway has become a routine thanks to the failure of the
railway authorities to maintain the punctuality of the incoming and
outgoing trains.

Ms Mridul Shukla, managing worker
of Meghdoot Gramodyog Sewa Sansthan (MGSS), has launched a social
organisation called the Maruti Mahila Swalambi Sansthan, a women’s
organisation which apart from manufacturing herbal cosmetics and
medicines, works at the village level on themes like women and child
welfare, population control, literacy and modern practices in farming.
Agitating
Dalits allege police discrimination
Meerut, March 12
Hundreds of agitated Dalits from
Mahalwala and Kankarkhera villages held demonstrations. They were
protesting against the alleged harassment meted out to them by the
area police in two different cases. The Dalits accused the police of
discriminating on the basis of caste and creed.

Committee
on transporters’ grievances soon: Paul

The Commissioner of Police, Dr K.
K. Paul, today assured transporters that a committee to look into
their grievances of harassment by police at various points on highways
in the Capital would be constituted.

headway in identifying half-burnt body

The Rai police have failed to
achieve any breakthrough so far in identifying the person whose
half-burnt body was recovered form the cremation ground at Badhkhalsa
village in the district on Wednesday.

A city court has sent a person
for life imprisonment for killing his father-in-law. Deepak, the
convict, killed Jyotish Mandal (father-in-law), on January 17, 1996,
by stabbing him.

Education Council, Mr Vikramjit Singh Sahney, organised a
commemorative function recently on the occasion of the establishment
of Guru Teg Bahadur National Integration Chair at Punjabi University,
Patiala, at India International Centre here. The chair was established
at Punjabi University, Patiala in 1991-92, with the main objective to
