Paper leak: four nabbed

The North district police today claimed to have arrested four persons in connection with the leak of exam papers on March 8, of ninth standard of government schools. The four arrested persons included the owner and an employee of the press from where the papers were printed.

The Economic Offences Wing has arrested three land grabbers who were illegally using the government land besides selling the same to some unsuspecting buyers. The accused persons after making some sheds in the property also rented out to some companies and were receiving the payments.

Holding a city hotel responsible for the theft of a guest’s vehicle from the parking area in 1996, a local consumer court has ordered the hotel to pay Rs 2 lakh with 10 per cent interest and the cost of litigation to the guest.

The Additional Sessions Judge of Sonepat, Mr J. S. Jangra, convicted 11 persons of Gorar village yesterday under various sections of the IPC and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment for six months to five years with a fine up to Rs 5,500 in a case of clash that took place in the village on September 6, 2001, in which a number of persons were injured.
