Ludhiana, March 12
Antakshri, which is being telecast on Zee Network for more than 10 years now, has recently been recognised as the longest-running musical programme by the Limca Book of World Records. The programme tries to incorporate new things keeping in mind viewers’ liking.
These views were expressed by Gajendra Singh, Creative Director of Zee Telefilms Limited, and Pallavi Joshi, one of the anchors of Sansui Antakshri.
The whole unit of Antakshri is here to shoot 13 episodes based on Punjabi theme. The telecast of these episodes will start from the first week of April. The shooting will begin at the Lodhi Club from today evening.
Pallavi says as the programme is very popular in Punjab, so they want to get closer to the Punjabi people, their sentiments, culture etc.
Born and brought-up in Mumbai, Pallavi is also acting in two serials — Kuch Kehna Hai Mujhko (telecast begins on Sony from today) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Dhoom (to be telecast on Star from May 25).
“I started my career as a child artist. Till now, I have done almost every type of role. Given a good offer, I would like to work for some more movies,” she adds.
Meanwhile, Gajendra Singh, who conceived Antakshri, says when he came up with the idea of organising a musical game show, no channel came forward to telecast it, except Zee. “I am emotionally attached to both programmes — Antakshri and Sa Re Ga Ma. Other channels also started such game shows after noticing the grand success of both these programmes,” he says.
Antakshri has provided platform to many talented, budding artists, who are performing well in Bollywood. “Shreya Ghoshal, girl from Kota, started her career from Antakshri. After singing in Devdas and Jism, she has become a celebrity now. Sanjeevni is another artist, who got a break through the programme,” he says.
About his expectations from Punjabi audience, Gajendra says, “Punjabis have always been so nice, generous and kind hearted, now it is our turn to meet to their
expectations.”
