The temperature was largely above normal in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal, markedly above normal in Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Haryana, Punjab and east Rajasthan, above normal in west Uttar Pradesh and normal in east Uttar Pradesh. The highest temperature in the region was 38.8°C recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan).
