200 examined at medical camp

Ludhiana, March 8
A free electrohomoeopathic medical camp was organised by the S.B.S. Medical College and Hospital of Electropathy at Ludhiana Holistic Health Centre here yesterday at Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar. Mr Jaspal Singh Gill, chairman, managing committee, welcomed the guests.

The camp was inaugurated by Mr Avtar Singh Makker, president, SAD(Ludhiana). Mr Piara Singh Dhillon, political secretary to Mr Gurcharan Singh Galib (Member Parliament) presided over the function.

Dr Kuldeep Singh Khaira, Principal, S.B.S. Medical College and Hospital of Electropathy, gave a lecture on the advantages of electrohomoeopathy medicines.

He said electrohomoeopathy medicines were prepared from non-poisonous plants and had no side-effect on the human body.

A team of leading electrohomoeopaths including Dr Khaira, Dr Rajesh Sharma, Dr Shaveta Ahuja, Dr Amritpal Kaur, examined the patients and the medicines were given from the centre. Nearly 200 patients were examined in the camp.

Dhanoa Academy register win in hockey meet

Ludhiana, March 8
The Dhanoa Academy (HMV), Jalandhar, defeated the North-Eastern Railways, 3-2, to start the campaign in style in the eighth All-India Mohinder Partap Singh Grewal Memorial Women’s Hockey Tournament that began at the Deso Turf ground of Punjab Agricultural University here today.

The inaugural encounter started on a brisk pace with both sides trying to prove their supremacy. After wasting a couple of penalty corners, the North-Eastern Railways scored the first goal in the 24th minute. It was a fine field goal by Anita. The very next minute, Anita again found the target to consolidate the lead 2-0.

After this, the Jalandhar academy team mounted a counter-attack and stormed the opponent’s territory and was awarded a penalty stroke. Baljeet Kaur of the Dhanoa Academy successfully converted it onto a goal to reduce the margin. This followed some good moves by both sides, but they failed to draw benefit from the chances that came their way.

After changing the ends, Jalandhar eves continued with their attacking game and maintained pressure on the opponents. Their pressure tactics bore fruits in the 42nd minute when they earned another penalty stroke. Baljeet Kaur neutarlised the lead (2-2).

The team of the NE Railways forced two penalty corners in quick succession, but in vain. On the other hand, the Dhanoa Academy girls scored one more goal in the 53rd minute through Ramanpreet Kaur (3-2) and they managed to hang on to the lead till the long hooter.

Earlier, Dr Kirpal Singh Aulakh, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, inaugurated the tournament. Mr Pritam Singh Grewal of the UK and president of the MPS Grewal Trust and Society, donated Rs 1 lakh to the organising committee. Mr Sham and Mr Umrao Singh Atwal, also from England, announced a grant of Rs 10,000 and 5,000, respectively, for the committee.

The NE Railways will take on SAI, Chandigarh, while the Central Railways will clash with the Dhanoa Academy, Jalandhar, tomorrow.
