CBSE introduces additional examiners Ludhiana, February 27 The nodal supervisors will generally be principals of schools who have sufficient experience as postgraduate teachers in a particular subject. The school of the principal will act as the nodal centre where all head examiners, who are second evaluators and working as senior teachers in different schools, will assemble for table marking. This year, Kundan Vidya Mandir will be the nodal centre for evaluation of Class XII answersheets of English. Ms Neena Khanna, Principal of the school, has been appointed nodal supervisor for the subject. Similarly, Ms Heema Jassal, Principal of GMT Senior Secondary School, has been chosen nodal examiner for Class X English-A paper. BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, will be the nodal centre for Class XII chemistry examination, which will be supervised by Ms Paramjit Kaur. The board has also appointed separate examiners for physics, chemistry and biology for Class X science answersheets. Till previous years, all answersheets of science subject were evaluated by a common teacher. From this year, the board has specifically sent directions to evaluate three constituting parts of the subject by different experts who were postgraduate teachers in their subjects. Similarly, though there is a common answersheet for social studies, subject experts in history, civics and geography will evaluate the three parts of the paper. The arrangement has clearly been made so that all answers are thoroughly and fairly checked. There will also be head examiners and nodal examiners for each part of the paper who will then evaluate the sheets for the second and third time, respectively. Meanwhile, examination centres are gearing up for the board examination that have been scheduled to begin on Monday. Preparations for the examination have been made at GGN Public School, Kundan Vidya Mandir, BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School and a dozen other schools that have been made examination centre. |
ABVP observes black day Ludhiana, February 27 Atul Sood, vice-president , Ludhiana, said after examinations the ABVP would launch an agitation in Ludhiana. Sandeep Kapoor , ABVP’s state unit vice-president said students would vote against the present government in the coming parliamentary elections. Rajat Sood led the rally from Arya College. The speakers said the government had completed two years but its policies on education had never been positive. He said the government was following a dual policy on education. The government had not announced anything in connection with the students union elections while it had committed to do so in its manifesto. Technical education is getting more expensive in the whole state and the fee structure has not been declared, resulting in widespread commercialisation of education in the state. |

teams take part in inter-college festival Ludhiana,
February 27 Fourteen teams participated in the dance contest. The team from the Khalsa College for Women won the first prize, followed by SCD Government College and Lovely Institute, Phagwara. In turn coat event, 11 teams participated and the team of Guru Nanak Engineering College (GNEC) emerged as the first prize winner. The second and the third prizes went to the teams of SCD Government College and the Shahid Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Technology (SZABIT), Islamabad, respectively. In the acting competition, the SZABIT won the first prize, GNEC was declared the second and Chitkara Institute bagged the third position. In the sell-it event, Lovely Institute stood first, followed by GNEC and CMTR, Mohali. In flower arrangement, the SZABIT won the first prize, Ramgarhia Girls’ College stood second and Lovely Institute got the third prize. The team from Islamabad, comprising 17 students and three faculty members, remained the main attraction of the show. In the evening, the team presented a special cultural guest item on ‘Punjab of Pakistan’. Mr H.S. Gill, Chairman, PCTE, said the visit of the team was sponsored by the host college. He said separate stalls had been allocated for Pakistan delegation to depict items of cultural heritage of that country. |
DMCH Principal nominated
Senator Ludhiana, February 27 He was intimated in writing by Dr J. S. Gujral, Vice-Chancellor of the university stating that, “I am pleased to inform you that the Chancellor of this university, in exercise of his powers conferred under Section 24 (1) of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Act, 1998, has nominated you as a member of the Senate of the university.” By holding these two prestigious posts, Dr Daljit Singh will help the university with his counsel and expertise in the field of health sciences and in making important decisions on various issues and policy drafting. The management and administration of the DMCH has expressed their gratitude to the VC of the university for conferring the honour on Principal Daljit Singh by appointing him as a Senator. Dr Daljit Singh has also contributed significantly to the growth of the DMCH by serving as Dean, Academics, and a Head of the Department. |
School honours grandparents Doraha, February 27 Mr Sukhpal Singh, president of the Rotary Club, Doraha, and Chairman , Doraha Institute of Management and Technology, graced the occasion. The grandparents were invited for the show and honoured. Bhangra was performed by class VII students.
