PMC meets today after 30 years Ludhiana, February 26 The PMC was formed under the Punjab Medical Registration Act, 1916, by the British Government. The decision to revive the only medical council of the state was taken by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in May 2003. Interestingly, the Medical Registration Act of 1916 says that the two meetings of the PMC would be held in Shimla (during summers) and Lahore (in winters) in the months of May and November, respectively. As per the Act, the daily allowance of the members of council, including everything, would be Rs 3. The Act also says that no decision taken by the members of the PMC could be challenged in the Civil Court.
