Ludhiana, January 23
With a view to improving the medical facilities, a new ward - Purvi Paediatric ICU - has been set up at a cost of Rs 25 lakh at Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Hospital. The unit was inaugurated by Mr M.S. Jaggi, Assistant Commissioner (General), here today.
Mr Jaggi while appreciating the facilities said the hospital was providing latest medical facilities at affordable rates to the poor patients. He exhorted the management of the other medical institutions to provide subsidised treatment to the patients belonging to the poor strata of the society. He assured to help the hospital's management in this regard.
Giving details of the new ward, Dr Waheguru Pal Singh, Medical Superintendent, said this ICU had been constructed in the memory of Purvi Jiv Shah. His father, Lala Hira Lal Jain of M/s Jamna Dass Nikkamal Jain Saraf Pvt Ltd, had donated $ 50,000for this purpose.
He said this ward was equipped with latest facilities to treat children .The Medical Superintendent said the hospital was already catering to the needs of a large number of poor and middle class patients by running almost all major super specialties and was charging confessional rates for different diagnostic tests in the hospital.
He said the management headed by Bakshi Mohinder Singh, president of the hospital, was personally looking after the patients and relatives attending them.
Those present on the occasion were Mr Bharat Vir Singh Sobti, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, Ms G.K.Walia, Principal Institute of Nursing Education of the hospital, Dr Harkanwal Sidhu and Lala Hira Lal Jain.
