Raids on drug stores Ludhiana, December 30 The sources disclosed that the raids were a part of a campaign launched by the State Drug Controller against spurious drugs and intoxicants being sold at these stores. The raids, which started in early morning, were continuing till late in the evening. Senior officials disclosed that the raids will continue tomorrow also. The officials maintained that these were routine raids and had been conducted throughout the state. The officials said the details of the drugs seized would be made available only after the raids are completed. They, however, maintained that there were reports that spurious drugs and intoxicants were being sold at various drug stores, including Pindi Street. Pindi Street is the main drug market of the city, as there are a number of wholesale and retail drug shops. The shopkeepers disclosed that they were taken by surprise when they found about a dozen officials of the department, including several drug inspectors, descending on the shops and checking the stocks. |
