10-day NSS begins

Ludhiana, December 27
The students should set their goals high and learn and practise good deeds for the welfare of society. This was stated by the Shanti Tara College Managing Committee president, Mr Prem Gupta, and general secretary, Mr Arwind Malhotra, while inaugurating an inter-college 10-day NSS camp at Government School Jagera. About 100 students are participating in the camp. Students would do social work and attend lectures during the camp.

PSU plans campaign against obscene posters

Ludhiana, December 27
The Punjab Students Union will launch a campaign against obscene and vulgar posters put up on the walls of educational institutes in this district.

In a joint statement, Mr Jagjit Singh and Gurdip Singh, president and secretary of the Arya College unit, Mr Rakesh Azad, president of the Government College unit, Mr Satinder Singh, president of ITI units in a press note said the vulgar posters had an adverse effect on the minds of the youth.

The union leader said in the first phase of their agitation, a memorandum would be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.

Bar chief honoured

The newly elected District Bar Association President, Mr Balwinder Goel, has said that that he would come up to the expectations of people in general and the lawyers in particular. Speaking at the function organised by the Engineering Exporters Association of India in his honour here last night, Mr Goel maintained that the legal community had a greater role to perform in society.
