A relative of former High Commissioner to Ghana Daljit Singh Pannu was today arrested after being identified as the alleged attacker of Ms Navneet Kaur, granddaughter of late Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.

Vehicle marked ‘govt’ to fool policemen

The man arrested by the police yesterday for smuggling liquor was found to be faking the vehicle he used for smuggling as that of the Government of India. The accused, Raju, was arrested late last night smuggling 52 cans of country made Hero whisky.

GMCH jumps inauguration to treat patients

Without waiting for a VIP to formally inaugurate the newly constructed Block C at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) the authorities have started admitting patients to the wards. This has taken a lot of pressure off the crowded emergency and wards.

Vivek High School, Sector 38, boys emerged winners by scoring 31 points in the First Inter-School Pitch-and-Putt Competition organised by the Chandigarh Golf Association at the CGA Golf Range here today. The winning team comprised Sagar Bhatia, Ratul Sood, Dilsher Sukhija and Shabaz Khurana.

Vigilance Bureau to get office in Mohali soon

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau is all set to open its office in the township. The office, to be headed by the OSD to the Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau (VB), will be initially run from a residential premises.
