The local police seem to have a dab hand at fake encounters. This time around, they have kicked off a controversy by arresting an accused after injuring him in a fake encounter. Interestingly, the accused was nabbed by a local entrepreneur, Mr Suresh Gumbar, and his associates and handed over to the police.

Call girl racket busted in Meerut

After busting a call girl racket in Kanpur, the Meerut police claimed to have smashed another such racket on Wednesday night. The police arrested two call girls, including a pub dancer of Mumbai, the leader of this racket and two of their agents.

Delhi Govt bid to allay consumer fears on CAS

As a sequel to the talks with the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Government of NCT of Delhi on Thursday came out with a set of clarifications that uphold consumer’s interests in the matter of conditional access system (CAS) for watching pay channels.

Mercury rises, but cold wave persists

The national Capital witnessed a substantial rise in the day temperature today; the minimum temperature was also up by one degree with fog thinning out early morning after the season’s coldest day yesterday. At mid-day, the temperature had touched 14 degrees Celsius. The minimum was recorded at 8.4, which was normal.

At a function organised by the Atlas Cycles, the cycle major honoured students who had excelled in their respective examinations. Students who had secured top positions in the various graduation examinations of the Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, and the Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, as well as those who had topped in matriculation and 10 plus 2 level examinations conducted by the Board of School Education, Haryana, were presented a bicycle and an appreciation certificate.
