Laxman Public School annex cricket title

New Delhi, December 21
Hosts Laxman Public School defeated Springdales School by six wickets and annexed the Laxman Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Laxman school ground in Haus Khas.

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Vikram Verma gave away the prizes. Former national cricket coach Gurcharan Singh was the guest of honour. Teams from Bangladesh and Nepal played in the week-long tournament, which was made possible due to the untiring efforts of Mrs Usha Ram.

Manish Sharma and Puneet Mehra of Laxman Public School were adjudged the best batsman and man of the series respectively while the other awards went to Linkon Talukder of CSA Bangladesh (best fielder), Sunil of Don Bosco (best wicket-keeper) and Jagrit Khanna of Springdales (best bowler).

Scores: Springdales School: 147 in 31.4 overs (Rakshit Agnihotri 59, 2x6, 8x4, 60b; Vikrant Dheer 35, 3x6, 1x4, 37b; Puneet Mehra 3 for 14; Pranoy Chakarvorty 2 for 14, Karan Dudhani 2 for 33).

Laxman Public School: 148 for 4 in 24 overs (Puneet Mehra 80, 6x6, 7x4, 68b; Manish Sharma 38, 5x4, 55b; Jagrit Khanna 2 for 60).

Deepak Bahl bowls Three Star to victory

New Delhi: A devastating bowling spell of 5 for 15 by skipper Deepak Bhal, supported by good batting from Rajesh Kumar (61) and Sameer Kumar (65), helped Three Star Club defeat Chandni Chowk Gymkhana by 49 runs in an A-II Division match of the DDCA League at the Mohan Meakin ground.

Scores: Three Star: 208 for 4 in 40 overs (Sameer Kumar 65,Rajesh Kumar 61, Vishal Singh 2 for 34).

Chandni Chowk Gymkhana: 159 all out in 32.3 overs (Kesari Sharma 53, Amit Tomar 34, Deepak Bahl 5 for 15). OSR
