Cong organises blood donation camp New Delhi, December 9 The Youth Congress president, Mr Rajesh Lilothia, said that youth Congress activists took a pledge on the occasion to make the country corruption free and work for achieving the goals of secularism, social equality and progress for the country. They also took pledge to fight for unity and integrity of the nation by following ideals and principles laid down by Sonia Gandhi. It was right time when youth of the country should come forward to fight for their rights and make contribution in making India corruption free, he added. The team has been following Karthikeyan’s career closely in recent years, and impressed with his on-track performances, wants to evaluate him in a current Formula One car. If the session goes well, there is a strong possibility Karthikeyan could be asked to join the team in 2004. Singh races to gold in Police Athletics New Delhi, December 9 In the men’s hammer throw final, Rakesh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh Police cleared a distance of 64.73 metres to annex the gold. Kulwinder Singh and Harpal Singh, both of Punjab Police, accounted for the silver and bronze, respectively. Ajit Singh of Punjab scaled over 2.06 metres to win the high jump gold. Vikul Tyagi of BSF and Shashidharan Nair of Bihar took the silver and bronze, respectively. In the 1500m women’s final, Deepika Vishwas of CRPF clocked 4:29.6 secs to bag the gold while her team-mate Salma M C won the silver. Ramla Devi of Punjab clinched the bronze. Corporate Golf at DLF New Delhi, December 9 The winning team from Delhi, along with R K Pitambar and Prabal Banerjee of Mumbai, will go onto play at the coveted World Corporate Golf Challenge. This is India’s only qualifying event to the WCGC, and is thus a singular opportunity for corporates in India to compete with golfing peers at the international level. The WCGC finals are conducted every year at La Manga in Spain, where corporate teams from all over the world, which have won their respective national events, represent their country.
