ITF Asian Junior Tennis in Delhi

New Delhi, December 7
The ITF Asian Junior Tennis Tournament for boys and girls under-18 will be held at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association courts from December 8 to 13.
The tournament will feature both singles and doubles events. The singles main draw will consist of 24 direct acceptances, four qualifiers and four wild card entries to make up the qualifying draw of 32. The tournament has a status of ITF Grade B2 event.

The winner of the singles title will pocket 120 points while the doubles title winners will earn 80 points. The finalists in the singles and doubles will earn 80 and 60 points respectively while the semi-finalists will get 60 and 40 points respectively.

Besides India, players from China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and Uzbekistan are participating in the tournament.

Salwan Boys sail into quarter-final

New Delhi, December 7
Salwan Boys School, Delhi defeated Sirajgonj Multilateral High School, Bangladesh by 57 runs and entered the quarter-final of the DPS World Cup Invitational Cricket for Schools at the Guru Gobind Singh College ground.

Scores: Salwan Boys School: 168 for 9 in 40 overs (Narendra Singh 24, Rajeev Sharma 22, Ratan Rawat 21, Md. Faisal Ahmed 3 for 28).

Sirajgonj School: 111 all out in 34.4 overs (Md. Abdul Awal 31, Md. Hasanuz Zaman 26, Arunch Choudhary 2 for 10, Narendra Singh 2 for 15, Ashutosh Sharma 2 for 20).

Willes Little Flower School, Bangladesh defeated Delhi Private School, Dharan (Nepal) by five wickets at the DDA Sports Complex ground, Saket.

Scores: Delhi Private School: 65 all out in 31.3 overs (Saif Mahmud 3 for 8, Mohammad Sharifullah 3 for 29, Mehrab Hossain 2 for 6).

Willes School: 68 for 5 in 12.3 overs (Mohammad Sharifullah 18, Saif Mahmud 16, Ronesh Agrawal 2 for 18, Servesh Maskey 2 for 22).

Parzoware Kalindi School defeated English Foundation School by 23 runs at the SGTB Khalsa College ground.

Scores: Parzoware School: 131 all out in 39 overs (Ashif Iqbal Babu 32, Imran Hussain Milon 27, Zakir Hossain 24, Mudassar Hussain 3 for 26, Mohammad Nadeem 2 for 21).

English Foundation: 108 all out in 38.1 overs (Muhammad Talib 30, Mudassar Hussain 26, Ashif Iqbal 4 for 19, Faisal Ahmed 2 for 18).

Monday’s fixtures: Bukit Jalil School, Malaysia vs Delhi Public School, R K Puram—Guru Gobind Singh College, Pitampura; Razzak High School vs Delhi Private Schooll—SGTB Khalsa College.

SAI Central Region win wrestling

New Delhi, December 7
Sports Authority of India (SAI) Central Region emerged winners, both in the girls and boys section, in the SAI Inter-Regional Wrestling Tournament held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. Around 139 wrestlers from all the SAI regional centres participated in the competition.

Olympians Satpal and Ved Prakash inaugurated the meet and gave away the prizes, respectively. SAI regional director S. K. Saggar and organising secretary Maj. P. K. Laskar were actively involved in the conduct of the event.

Central Region collected 130 and 241 points in the girls and boys section respectively to win the titles. North Eastern Region and Northern Region emerged as runners-up.

Rajat Kumar bowls Century to victory

A devastating bowling spell of 4 for 46 by Rajat Kumar helped Century Club defeat Tilak Nagar Colts by 21 runs in an A-I Division match of the DDCA League at the RSC ground.

Scores: Century Club: 212 for 8 in 40 overs (Manoj Sandhu 65, Jitender Solanki 52, T P Singh 3 for 27, Som Nath 3 for 34).

T N Colts: 191 all out in 33 overs (Kishan Kumar 48, Somnath 37, Rajat Kumar 4 for 46, Ram Prakash 2 for 27). City Gymkhana defeated Anand Sports by nine wickets in an A-II Division match at the YSC ground.

Anand Sports: 138 all out in 33.1 overs (Bhargu Vashisth 47 n o, Ravish Lohia 3 for 11, Sameer Bandoh 3 for 39). City Gymkhana: 139 for 1 in 13.3 overs (Sameer Bandoh 57 n o, Rakesh Joshi 27 n o).

Three Star defeated Malik Sports by six wickets in an A-II Division match at the YSC II ground.

Scores: Malik Sports: 141 all out in 39.4 overs (Mohd Naved 22, Mohd Yasin 21, Sandeep Dahiya 3 for 14, Raj Gautam 3 for 29, Rajesh Raina 3 for 33). Three Star: 142 for 4 in 18.2 overs (Manish Kumar 36, Mohd Shakir 2 for 23).

St Mark School move up in Kehar Cricket

A fine all-round display by Ankul Mehta (31 and 4 for 8) and deadly bowling by Ankush Pawar (3 for 31) helped St. Mark School, Janakpuri defeat Remal Cricket Academy by 42 runs in a league match of the third Kehar Singh Memorial Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the Vikaspuri ground.

Though Avinash Kumar and Sumit Kumar produced fine bowling performances for Remal, they could not cash in on as Ankul produced a vicious bowling spell to see St.Mark through.

Scores: St. Mark School: 138 all out in 27 overs (Gaurav Virmani 38, Ankul Mehta 31, Avinash Kumar 3 for 16, Sumit Kumar 3 for 17, Sahil Seth 3 for 27). Remal Academy: 96 all out in 23.4 overs (Isvinder Singh 32, Ankul Mehta 4 for 8, Ankush Pawar 3 for 31).

KLM Cargo defeated Xansa by three wickets and entered the quarter-final of the Eventus Cricket Tournament.
