GMT school honours athletes Ludhiana, December 7 Those honoured were Sukhwinder Singh of class XII, who won the gold medal in javelin throw (under-16 boys); Jaswinder Singh and Balwinder Singh, students of class XII, who finished runners-up in javelin throw and discus throw (under-19) events, respectively; Karamvir Singh, a class IX student, who stood second in shot put (under-16 boys); Rohan Sharma of class VIII, Ajay Sharma of class XII and Manpreet Kaur of class XI, who finished third in shot put, (under-14), triple jump (under-19) and 800m race (under-18) categories, respectively, and Kamaljeet Kaur of class XII, who secured third spot in 400m race (under-19) category. Mr S.K. Thind and Mr S.K.S. Thind, directors of the school, praised the players for their outstanding performance. Ms Heema Jassal, Principal of the school, also spoke on the occasion.

SAN Jain School record 6-wkt win Ludhiana, December 7 Batting first after winning the toss, government school , in their stipulated 25 overs scored 163 runs losing eight wickets with main contributions coming from Karan Bhardwaj and Lalit who chipped in with 63 runs each. SAN Jain School achieved the target in the 24th over after losing just four wickets. Former Test star, Yash Paul Sharma along with Mr Rajinder Aggarwal and Mr Parveen Aggarwal gave away prizes to the participants. Karan Bhardwaj and Lalit Kumar, both of Government Model School, PAU were declared the best batsman and the best allrounder respectively, while SAN Jain School’s Tarun Passi and Chintan Sehgal were adjudged the best fielder and the best wicket keeper, respectively. Brief scores: Govt School, PAU- 163 for 8 ( Karan Bhardwaj 63 and Lalit 63; Rattan Bricher 2 for 10 and Sukhminder 2 for 26); SAN Jain School 164 for 4 ( Tarun Passi 37 n.o, Chintan Sehgal 33, Rattan Bricher 29, Sachin 22; Jatin 2 for 26 and Lalit 1 for 25). |
