Retired doctors to get NPA
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, November 28
PCMS doctors who have retired after August 1 this year, will continue to get the retirement benefits, inclusive of NPA. The authority regarding this, called back by the Accountant-General (AG) Punjab, has been again delegated to District Treasury Officers. This was conveyed to Dr Hardeep Singh, state President, Punjab Civil Medical Services Association, through a written communication.

In a press note issued here, Dr Hardeep Singh thanked the Accountant-General for responding positively to the request of the PCMS Association. Dr Singh said, "Previously, the Accountant-General had withheld initiation of monthly pension by withdrawing the powers from all District Treasury Officers of Punjab, on account of previous orders of withdrawal of NPA from August 1.

But after the Punjab Government withheld these orders and resumed NPA, undue delay in initiation of pension by AG, led to harassment of retired doctors. Now the powers regarding pension have again been delegated to the District Treasury Officers and District Development Officers. With this, the PCMS doctors denied pension will be provided the pension inclusive of NPA".
