MCI team inspects DMCH

Ludhiana, November 24
A team from the Medical Council of India (MCI) visited Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) here today to review the arrangements for extending the recognition to the institute. The team led by senior doctors acting on behalf of the MCI, went through various teaching departments of the hospital and made observations which will be conveyed to the college through the MCI, it is learnt.

A lot of hustle and bustle was there in the hospital in the morning. The inspection is for two days i.e. today and tomorrow. It was a periodic inspection which is generally conducted after every five years but this one was conducted after more than eight years. The team comprising senior professors from Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi visited departments.

Sources revealed that due to the inspection, many patients had to wait for hours for doctors as majority of them were busy preparing for the inspection.

GNIMT spikers are PTU champs

Ludhiana, November 24
Spikers of the local Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Model Town, won the Punjab Technical University Inter-College Volley-ball Championship for Women held at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib, on November 22 and 23. According to Dr A S Bansal, Director, GNIMT, in the final match, Ludhiana eves quelled a challenge from the hosts and the reigning champion, BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib, before emerging victorious.

In the first set, Ludhiana girls gave some anxious moments before going down 25-28 but in the next set bounced back into the game, wrapping it up at 25-23.

In the third game, the holders again fought it tooth and nail before losing 22-25. In the deciding game, GNIMT spikers out scored their opponents 27-25 and clinched the title. The Bhandhal College of Engineering and Technology finished third in the meet.

The GNIMT won the title for the second time. The team comprised Kirandeep Kaur, Mandeep Gill, Mandeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Inderjeet Kaur, Tamanna Soni and Silky Goomber of BCA-V and Navpreet Sidhu of MCA-III, Divya Kaur and Sarabjeet Kaur of MCA-V and Amandeep Kaur of BCA-I.
