Sachin, Yuvraj-Kaif combo for CEAT award

New Delhi, October 24
Sachin Tendulkar’s 98-run thrilling act against Pakistan at Centurion in the World Cup and Yuvraj-Kaif combo with their heroic performance against Nasser Hussain’s England in the NatWest final are in contention to grab the Ceat Max Best Match-Winning performance Award.

The Award is co named after SET Max TV channel, who are the official telecast partners for the CEAT Cricket awards this year.

A panel of judges comprising Test cricketers Ajit Wadekar, Sanjay Manjrekar and noted journalists Lokendra Pratap Sahi and Ayaz Menon, has nominated two more quality performances for the Ceat Best Match Winning Performance Award. One is Ashish Nehra’s six wickets haul, which was a shattering experience for England, also in the World Cup and the other is Rahul Dravid (109) and Sanjay Bangar’s (57) joint effort against the West Indians at Ahmedabad in 2002-2003.

One of these Herculean performances will be honoured with the Ceat Best Match-winning Performance Award during the star-studded 8th Annual Ceat International Cricket Rating Awards ceremony to be held on October 31, at Hotel Taj Mahal, Mumbai.

Avtar Singh stars for Rani Bagh

Fine knock of 62 runs by Avtar Singh helped Rani Bagh Club beat Anand Sports by 3 runs in DDCA A-II Division league RSKP ground.

Score: Rani Bagh Club: 184 all out in 37.4 overs. Avtar Singh 62, S. S. Sodhi 27 Sunil Yadav 4 for 22, Pankkaj Mohan 2 for 41, Anuj Tyagi 2 for 21.

Anand sports: 181 for 9 in 40 overs: Akash Talwar 42, Manish Arora 34, S. S. Sodhi 2 for 31 Sanjay Kumar 2 for 43.

KLM beat Amway

KLM beat Amway in the 3rd Eventus Cricket Tournament 2003. KLM got off to a flying start scoring 80 runs in 10 overs and kept the momentum going by scoring 181 in their allotted 25 overs. Neeraj Arya played some good shots and ran between the wickets well to score 79 of just 67 deliveries. Amway kept on loosing wickets and were bundled out for just 35 runs in 12.4 overs with their second win, KLM are sure to reach the pre-quarterfinals. Neeraj Arya was declared the man of the match.

Scores: KLM: 181 for 8 in 25 over: Neeraj Arya 79, (4x5), Kapil Madhok 34, Anil Bhal 3 for 28, Dev Prasad 5 for 2. Amway India: 35 all out in 12.4 overs.

Daks-e-Service win

Fine all-round display by Chandan Singh (39, 3 for 15) and fine batting by Mohd Awish and deadly bowling by Sumit Attri 2 for 6 helped Daks-e-Service beat Reckitt-Benckiser by 9 wickets and get two point in Suntan Cup Cricket Tournament at Vinay Marg ground. Daks-e-Service scored 81 in 9 overs.

Scores: Reckitt-Benckiser: 80 all out in 16 overs, Pankaj Podar 25, Chandan Singh 3 for 15 Sumit 2 for 6. Daks-e-Service: 81 for 1 in 9 over, Chandan Singh 39, Mohd Awish 29.

CBSE National Judo Championship

Ganga International School, Hiran Kudna performed brilliantly in CBSE National Judo Championship played at Chennai recently.
Following players are the medal winners in various categories:

Sub-group junior boys and girls: 50 kg Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Nandal (gold), 23kg - Kudrat Yadav (gold). 40kg - Mamta Lakra (gold).

Senior boys and girls: 66kg – Krishan Kumar Lakra (silver). 52kg – Dharamvir Lakra (silver).

Nivia football tourney

DDA Academy defeated Nivia Football Academy by 3-0 in the first final of under-14 tournament. For winners Manish, Anupam and Shaun were the scorers.

In the second final of under-17, Nivia Football Academy defeated Dhani Ram Public School. Sonipat by 2-1 in a well-contested match. Sandeep and Sandeep Thomar were the scorer for winner.

NCC cadets return from Sri Lanka 

New Delhi, October 24
A delegation comprising six NCC cadets (three boys and three girls) and one officer, who visited Sri Lanka, under the Youth Exchange Programme, have returned to India. During their stay in Sri Lanka, the cadets participated in Henman Loos and De Zoyaa Trophy competitions. The Cadets also visited Sri Lanka NCC Headquarters, NCC battalions and Military Academy. NCC has an ongoing Youth Exchange programme with Sri Lanka on reciprocal basis since 1971, under which cadets from both countries visit each other to participate in various activities of NCC. OSR
