Students run school for a day

Ludhiana, October 24
In a unique exercise in Guru Nanak Public School today the reins of the school were handed over to students. Paramnoor Singh, head boy of the school, held the Principal’s post for the day and Remneek Kaur, head girl of the school, became the Vice-President. Classes were taught by students of Class XII. Even the work of administrative staff were handled by students.

The day was observed to inculcate a sense of responsibility amongst the students and explain the challenges faced by teachers while teaching Paramnoor Singh, Ramneek Kaur and other students will be given trophies for their performance in the morning assembly of the school on Monday.

Amit Kumar brings alive Kishore’s magic

Ludhiana, October 24
“The magic of Kishore Kumar”, a musical nite staged at Hardy’s World last evening, evoked nostalgia among fans of Kishore Kumar. The moment Amit Kumar, son of the legendary singer, came on the stage, the audience started clapping with delight.

Amit sang Kishore’s evergreen songs and the listeners were enthralled as his voice resembled that of his father. After singing Kishore’s songs, Amit Kumar sang his own hit songs, including “Yaad aa rahi hai” from “Love Story” and “Deewana dil deewana”.

He regaled the audience with popular numbers like “Mere pyaar ka ras zara chakna” from “Bade Miyan, Chhote Miyan” and “Chal dariya mein doob jayen”.

Amit said he had last visited Ludhiana in 1999. On his second visit, he was here again to pay tribute to his father.

In the beginning of the show, Sargam Orchestra entertained the audience. Punjabi singer Sagar sang hit Punjabi numbers.

The Minister for Higher Education, Mr Harnam Dass Johar, was the chief guest of the function. The event was managed by Pisces Event Company.
