Karthikeyan wins second place New Delhi, October 21 Narain continued his consistent performance this season and consolidated his overall second place in the championship with a tally of 130 points. The final race of the Superfund World Series will be held at Jarama, Spain on November 30. |
CRPF beat Apollo International Sonepat, October 21 The CRPF played defensive game right from the beginning and despite repeated attempts Apollo International failed to score any goal. However, the wonder boy of the championship, and the youngest player of the tournament, Narender made a solo attempt and succeeded in scoring a goal for CRPF School in the 20th minute of the first half by dodging three defenders and goalkeeper of Apollo International School. In the second half, Apollo International boys made several attempts to equalise, but the spirited CRPF defence foiled their all attempts and won the match. The Union Minister of State for Home, Mr I. D. Swamy, gave away prizes to the winners and exhorted the boys not to get demoralised from the defeats, but to continue to learn more and more in order to reach to excellence. He also asked the leading companies and business groups to promote the sports by contributing voluntarily and observed that if the youngsters are provided proper training and incentives, they can become leading sports stars in their life. SDM Gannaur of Jeet Singh Mehra, DSP Om Prakash, Principal of Apollo International School, K N Dhar, founder of Lions Club Ganaur D Paul Bhatia, were also present on the occasion. |
CRPF ‘A’ lift volleyball title New Delhi, October 21 In the beginning, CRPF ‘B’ team took the lead with the help of Shajimon P. R. Dharmender, Ashok Kumar, M. K. Singh, who gave better combination of defence and attack. Finally, with the help of Vikas Tomar, CRPF ‘A’ won the match by 3-1 (19-25, 25-14, 25-14, 26-24). Mr S. C. Karanwal, Chief Architect, DDD, gave away prizes to the winners. Also present on the occasion, Brig R. N. Pandit, secretary (Coordn), Mr Kishore Chand SR AO (sports) and J R Mehra, vice-president, Delhi Volleyball Association. |
New Delhi, October 21 Batting first, Apollo Tyres scored 98 for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In replay, SG achieved the victory target with only 7 balls to spare with 6 wickets in hand. Dheeraj had an excellent spell of 2 for 5 in four overs for Apollo Tyres. Roopak Mishra was adjudged the man of the match award while Abhishek and Dheeraj were given the best batsman and best bowler.
