L Joshi and Prof. V.K. Bhardwaj. Mr Harish Puri, Chairman, Dr Ambedkar Chair, Guru Nanak Dev University, also deliberated on the same topic. The chief guest of the function was Mr Ashok Garcha, Chairman, Improvement Trust, Ludhiana. Two brave girls, Ms Anuraag Gill and Ms Nisha Bhatti, who fought against exploitation to uphold their dignity were to be honoured so that they can act as role models and inspire other girls. In an exclusive interview with Ms Anuraag Gill, an ad hoc lecturer of English at the Government College for Boys, Ludhiana Tribune learnt that though the unsavory incident had occurred in November last, wherein the boys of her class had drawn her indecent caricature in the class room, they have not been yet punished. Due to her character assassination and hostile attitude of other staff members she had left the college. She said, According to me I will get justice but it will take time some more. I think the Principal of the college is the main villain in the whole drama. She said no college lecturer came to her support as they are worried about their ACRs. Since the matter of her sexual harassment had been raised by the media, the Punjab Human Right Commission had taken up cudgels on her behalf. They had written to the Education Secretary, Mr N.S Rattan, and the IG (Litigation) to answer the commission. They were asked to do so four months ago. But Anuraag says, “I met Mr NC Jain of commission on September 23, and he told me that he has received no reply from IG (Litigation). He further said they have forgotten to give letter to Mr N.S. Rattan. But I have complained to SSP Narinder Pal Singh to take action against the Principal. The episode has been nightmarish but I will continue with my fight. I am doing Ph.D on ‘Feminism’. But the worst thing is that woman is the greatest enemy of the women’ as I realised through my experience.” |
