their submersible pumps used for extracting underground water appear to
have missed the bus. After the expiry of the deadline, the
administration has closed all options for the unregistered pump owners.

Highway
robbers arrested, dacoity foiled
Sonepat, September 26
The special staff of the Sonepat
police have arrested two highway robbers and foiled their plan to loot
people on the Sonepat-Kami road near here last night. The Superintendent
of Police, Mr Paramjit Singh Ahlawat, told mediapersons here today that
the arrested persons were identified as Ramesh and Satbir, both
belonging to Kami village.

Villagers’
complaints: CM orders probe
Sonepat, September 26
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Om
Parkash Chautala, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Sonepat, Mr
Balwan Singh, to conduct an inquiry into the complaints of the residents
of eight villages who had voiced their grievances on the lack of
development in their areas.

Two criminals
held after encounters
Ghaziabad, September 26
Teams of Loni and Indirapuram
police have nabbed two criminals, carrying rewards on their heads after
encounters at two different places. The police seized two revolvers,
cartridges and a bike from the criminals.

Navratra Mela
at Jhandewalan Temple
New Delhi, September 26
Navratra Mela is being organised at
the Badri Bhagat Jhandewalan Temple starting today. The mela will
continue till October 4, the last day of the festive navratras. On the
first day of the puja, a ‘Shailputri swaroop’ of Goddess Durga was
worshipped. The temple will remain open to the devotees from 4 am to
midnight.

smells scam in MCD ad dept
New Delhi
With the raid conducted by the
income tax department in the office of Adwell Advertisement Services, a
scam of crores of rupees in the advertisement department of the
corporation came to light, the Leader of Opposition in the MCD, Mr
Subhash Arya, alleged.
