Cardiology workshop on interventional 
procedures held

Large number of doctors from Saharanpur, Roorkee, Meerut, Baraut, Baghpat and Shamli districts of Western Uttar Pradesh and parts of Haryana took part in a one-day live workshop and CME on interventional procedures in cardiology here yesterday.

Organised by the Batra Cath Lab of Sonepat on the premises of the Delite Banquet Hall, the workshop was inaugurated by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr Rajeev Ranjan.

Highlighting the importance of the workshop, he stressed the need to provide cheap medical facilities to the people. Dr S. C. Srivastava, a former Head of Medicine and Cardiology, PGIMS, Rohtak, Prof M. S. Gupta and Dr Bajrang Lal Gupta were among those who spoke on the occasion. Dr Ramesh Batra, a well-known cardiologist of the region, said that more than 200 doctors and specialists hailing from Haryana and western UP showed keen interest in the live telecast of the heart operations carried out at the Cath Lab. He claimed that such an advanced workshop had been held for the first time in the region, exposing doctors to the complete procedures in interventional cardiology. Dr Batra also claimed that one of the reasons for holding this workshop was to reduce the fear among the people about the interventional procedures in cardiology.

Tarun Sangha hold Hindustan

Tarun Sangha came from behind to hold last year’s runners-up Hindustan Club 2-2 in a Group A Super League match of the Delhi Soccer Association Senior Division Football League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium on Tuesday.

Hindustan forged ahead in the 29th minute through inside-left Prabin Rai, whose long-ranger waded into the net. Tarun Sangha pulled off the equaliser through Akra Ali in the 51st minute. Tarun Sangha then took the lead in the 70th minute through Pushpender Dhondyal. Medio M K Candid equalised for Hindustan in the 73rd minute.

Earlier, Raisina Sporting Union rallied to draw with Indian National 1-1. Indian National gained the lead in the fourth minute when Deepak Kumar seized a defensive lapse to put the ball in. National suffered a big blow when their striker Bhupender Rawat was given the marching orders by referee Mohd Kamil for using foul language.

Raisina pulled off the equaliser through Basudev Santra in the 71st minute.

Wednesday’s fixtures: Simla Youngs vs N D Heroes (2.15 pm); Indian Air Force, New Delhi vs Shahdara (4 pm)— Ambedkar Stadium.

Mount St Mary’s record narrow win

New Delhi, September 16
Mount St. Mary’s School edged past Delhi Public School 63-61 in the inaugural match of the Ramjas Inter-School Basketball Tournament on Monday. Rohit James top-scored for Ramjas with 26 points while Prashant Joshi basketed 16 points. Biplov top-scored with 22 points for DPS.

In the second match, Meera Model School beat Delhi Public School 41-26. Mayank Kumar scored 16 points for the winners. Ashok Kumar contributed 10 for the losers. The tournament was inaugurated by senior national cricket selector and former Test player Kirti Azad.

Ramjas School, Pusa Road defeated Deep Memorial School, Ghaziabad 69-57 on Tuesday. In another match, Mont Fort School, Ashok Vihar defeated Bal Bharati School, Pitampura 58-17.

In the girls section, Modern School, Vasant Vihar defeated Bal Bharati School 16-8 while Mont Fort, Ashok Vihar defeated Meera Model 56-19.

Gaurav, Sunil star for CWC

An all-round display by Gaurav Sharma (56, 3x4, 4x6 and 1 for 3) and a dashing knock of 40 with one four and four sixes by Sunil Sudan helped Central Warehousing Corporation defeat New India Insurance Company Ltd by 18 runs and entered the quarter-final of the All-India Public Sector Cricket Tournament played at the Central Secretariat ground.

Scores: CWC: 119 for 4 in 15 overs (Gaurav Sharma 56, Sunil Sudan 40). New India Insurance Com.: 101 for 8 in 15 overs (Vijay Singh 28, Viraj 24, Rakesh Raman Jha 3 for 15).

In another match, Coal India Ltd. beat BSNL by two wickets. Scores: BSNL: 71 for 9 in 15 overs (S D Joshi 20, R Lungo 3 for 14, Manjhi 2 for 7).

Coal India Ltd: 73 for 8 in 15 overs (U M Phate 34, V Bhansar 3 for 9).

St. Giri School win

An all-round performance by Praveen Kumar (3 for 18) and deadly bowling by Vikas Kumar (3 for 13) helped St. Giri Senior Secondary School, Rohini beat Takshshila Public School by four wickets and entered the semi-final of the St. Giri Inter-School Cricket Tournament at the Paschim Vihar Sports Complex ground.

Scores: Takshshila: 130 all out in 28.2 overs (Aneesh Kumar 33, Kumar Abhishek 30, Praveen Kumar 3 for 18, Vikas Kumar 3 for 13). St. Giri School: 131 for 6 in 27.3 overs (Praveen Kumar 35, Sachin Kumar 30, Shobhit Kumar 4 for 29).

Anuj, Pankaj star for Ravindra Schools

A fine half-century by Anuj Jain and deadly bowling of 3 for 20 by Pankaj Sethi helped Ravindra School beat Hansraj Model School by 14 runs and entered the semi-final of the second Ram Jas Inter-School Cricket Tournament at the Ramjas Sports Complex ground. Anuj was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: Ravindra School: 168 all out in 39.5 overs (Anuj Jain 53, Sandeep Karki 23, Kartik Bhatia 4 for 35, Kumar Abhishek 3 for 27, Puneet Anand 2 for 18).

Hansraj Model School: 154 all out in 36.2 overs (Siddhant Mandel 76, Pankaj Sethi 3 for 20, Sandeep Karki 2 for 13).

DAVPS (Rohini) win kabaddi title

DAVPS, Rohini defeated DAVPS, Narela 45-44 to bag the Hansraj Kabaddi Tournament, organised by DAV Public School, Dayanand Vihar, at the Chattrasal Stadium. In the semi-finals, DAVPS, Narela defeated DAVPS, Khera Khurd 40-35 while DAVPS, Rohini beat DAVPS, Shreshttha Vihar 75-45.

Gyan Bharati School, Saket, crushed Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Lodi Road by eight wickets in the 14th Radha Kishan Cricket Tournament, organised by the Cambridge Foundation School, Rajouri Garden.

Scores: Sardar Patel: 136 for 8 in 30 overs (Akash Kumar 50, 5x4, 2x6; Amitez Singh 49, 2x4, 1x6; Ankur Julka 1 for 16; Manav Sharma 1 for 20).

Gyan Bharati: 107 for 2 in 18.5 overs (Abhilash Mathur 32 n o, 6x4; Manav Sharma 40 n o, 7x4; Pravav Chadha 2 for 23). Delhi Public School defeated Ryans International by six wickets.
