Super Six-a-Side Cricket formed New Delhi, September 15 Mr M L Sharma has been elected the president of the federation while Krishan Kumar and J S Lamba will be the general secretary and treasurer respectively. Dr Sareen, who is also the joint secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, announced in Delhi on Monday that the first Super Six-a-Side National Championship will be held in Chandigarh from October 2 to 5. Teams from 17 States are expected to participate in the Nationals. Dr Sareen said the Super Six Cricket Federation has been formed with the aim of promoting variant version of limited-over cricket. He said the object of the federation would be to “promote the shorter version of traditional one-day format cricket to make the game more exciting and thrilling in a limited period of time; to encourage specialist batsmen and bowlers; to provide batting and bowling opportunities to all the players in a side; to provide opportunity to those players who are not selected to play in the traditional form of cricket being organised under the aegis of the Board of Control for Cricket in India; and to promote limited-over cricket among corporate houses to seek their active involvement in promoting cricket of variant type in the country.” He said the rules of the game would be similar to the ICC and MCC rules applicable to one-day cricket matches, subject to minor changes, like each team will consist of six specialist batsmen and as many specialist bowlers etc. |
Team TVS steals spotlight on dirt track New Delhi, September 15 In the unmodified class, TVS Victor and TVS Fiero emerged winners by taking all top five positions of motorcycles above 80cc upto 110cc Group D four-stroke and motorcycles above 110cc upto 180cc Group D four-stroke races respectively. The top riders who rode with precision and dexterity were C D Jinan and Rustom Patel of Team TVS Racing. Team TVS Racing manager Thiruvengadam was ecstatic about the performance of his boys. |
