95 examined at medical camp

An acupressure medical camp was organised by the Ludhiana Sewa Sangh at old Krishna Temple here today. Dr Rajeev Gupta of the Commune Centre, Pune, examined more than 95 patients.

Mr Suresh Gupta, president, Ludhiana Sewa Sangh, in a press note said acupressure was effective in treating ailments like joint pains, cervical spondylitis, disc problem, hypertension, sugar, paralysis, headache, migraine, hernia etc. The camp would go on for seven days. “The patients will be given training to fight these ailments on their own,” said Mr Suresh Gupta.

MC plan to repair roads

The Municipal Corporation has chalked out an ambitious plan for resurfacing and intensive repair of city roads to give a face lift to the city. Almost 15 per cent of the total road length of major roads in the city would be resurfaced with premix carpet at a cost of Rs 4.42 crore during the next three months, while another 310 km roads would be given patch work at a total cost of Rs 1.60 crore by the end of October.

Giving details of the project, MC Commissioner S.K. Sharma told Ludhiana Tribune that tenders for the resurfacing work, distributed in four groups of Rs 1.10 crore each, would be invited in next couple of days whereas the patch work would be done through the hot mix plant and departmental labour.

In a survey of the entire stretch of black top roads, conducted by the officials of the B and R wing of the MC, such sections were identified which were in need of immediate repair. Similarly, those in relatively better condition were selected for patch work to repair pot holes and depressions.

According to Mr Sharma, the major roads to have fresh pre-mix coat included Jagraon Bridge to Sherpur Chowk, Gill Road Octroi Post to Sidhwan Canal, Baba Than Singh Chowk to Samrala Chowk, Chandigarh Road from Samrala Chowk to Vardhman Mill and further up to Octroi Post, Link Road from Dholewal Flyover to Dhuri Line Flyover, Cheema Chowk to Oswal Cancer Hospital, main roads in localities like Khud Mohalla, Naulakha Garden, Kesar Ganj Chowk, CMC Road from Lakshmi Cinema to CMC Hospital, Old Sabzi Mandi Road, Old Rahon Road, Main Focal Point Road from N.P. Dharam kanda to Railway Line up to Unit No 4, Grain Market Road and its links.

Under the patch work plan, also distributed on zone level, 60 km road length would be covered in Zone A, 100 km in Zone B, 60 km in Zone C and 70 km in Zone D with a total of 310 km based on standard road width of 3.5 m.

The major roads in the city to have patch work are : Zone A- main road in Netaji Nagar, Salem Tabri Road, Main Bhaura Colony Road, main road in Sunder Nagar, Link Road to Bypass, Rahon Road, Circular Road, main road in Guru Vihar, Rahon Road, Deepak Cinema Road, Chawni Mohalla Road, main road in Nanak Nagar, Arjun Nagar Road, Bajwa Nagar Road.

Zone B - main road in Bhagwan Nagar, main road in Subhash Nagar, main Karamsar Road, road from Subhash Nagar to Savtantar Nagar, main Shakti Nagar Road, Kakka Dhaula Road, Tibba Road, Kishore Nagar Road, Jaswant Nagar Road, road from Tibba Colony to Chandigarh Road, Mundian Kalan Road.

Zone C - Main Daba Road, Main Giaspura Road, Kot Managl Singh Road, Bhagwan Nagar Road, New Kirpal Nagar Road, Sangeet Cinema Road, Main Gill Road up to Octroi Post, Main Janta Nagar Road, Kalgidhar Road, Simlapuri Road.

Zone D - Guru Nanakpura Road up to Dhobi Ghat, Bindraban Road, Kailash Cinema Chowk to Session Chowk, Session Chowk to Dandi Swami Road up to Octroi Post, Main Haibowal Road, Jassian Road, Pawittar Nagar Road, Tagore Nagar Road, College Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Sham Nagar Road, Model Town Road, Jawahar Nagar Camp Road, ESI Road, Lajpat Nagar Road, Kochhar Market Road.
