Shastri Club annex Under-15 Cricket Trophy New Delhi, July 29 Rohtak Road Gymkhana, electing to bat, were bundled out for 92 for 9 in the allotted 35 overs, with only Rahul Yadav, who scored 36 runs, studded with three fours and as many sixes, standing upto the fierce bowling of Shastri Club. In reply, Shastri Club knocked in the required runs for victory for the loss of four wickets in 20.1 overs. Rahul Yadav of R R Gymkhana was adjudged the best batsman while Puneet Anand of the same club was given the best bowler award. Vipin Malhotra walked away with the man of the tournament award. Madhu Vihar Sports Club were adjudged the best talented team. Scores:

Under-19 cricket tournament at Gurgaon Gurgaon, July 29 The tournament will be held at the newly built Devi Lal Pavilion situated in the stadium being set up in Sector 38. According to Mr Taneja, matches of 30 overs each will be held till the quarter finals. Thereafter, in the semi-finals, each match would be of 35 overs. Mr Taneja, who is also an office-bearer of Haryana Cricket Association, expressed the hope that Gurgaon would soon emerge as a cricketing centre. The District Cricket Association is taking all possible measures to popularise the game in Gurgaon, he said. |
Amar Nath in need of financial help New Delhi, July 29 Amar Nath was battling with failing eye sight, which became worse after an eye operation last year, when hid kidney also failed, shattering him completely. Amar Nath, a former junior cricketer of Haryana, has been a regular fixture at the cricket venues of Delhi, particularly the Delhi and District Cricket Association(DDCA) at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground, for the past three decades. He has made his mark both as an umpire and as a scorer. Amar Nath has been in the panel of scorers of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the DDCA. But his total devotion to cricket did not earn him much financial rewards, and he used to always eke out a hands to mouth existence. He needs urgent help from the sports lovers and administrators, as he is unable to cope up with the costly treatment for his kidney failure. CBSE Tennis The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) North Zone Tennis Championship will be held at the Modern School courts, Barakhamba Road, from September 27 to October 1. The championship will be held in three age groups—under-14, under-16 and under-19—in the boys and girls section.
