Kashani rules out third-party
mediation on Kashmir Srinagar, July 29 “India and Pakistan should be capable of resolving their outstanding issues bilaterally. If we talk in the context of the Kashmir issue, Kashmiri people will have to be included,” Syed Kashani told PTI a day after being elected to the top post of the Jamaat for a three-year term. “When a third party intervenes the parties to the dispute do not conduct the dialogue with sincerity and hence the grouses remain even after a solution is hammered out by whatever means,” he said. On the thaw in the Indo-Pakistan ties, Syed Kashani welcomed the developments, saying that “we support all the moves that will put an end to the bloodshed and human rights, violations in Jammu and Kashmir.” “New Delhi and Islamabad should know that peace and prosperity of the entire South Asian region was dependent on their relations,” he said. Asked if he would appeal to the militants to lay down their arms to give peace a chance, the 62-year-old leader said Islam does not advocate any unnecessary bloodshed.
