Tribune News Service

New Delhi, June 27
The Delhi Health Minister, Dr A. K. Walia, inaugurated a three-day free heart and lung check-up camp at the Delhi Heart and Lung Institute.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Walia said, “In the past five years, the Delhi Government has improved its primary and secondary health care services but we are far behind in providing adequate tertiary care to the Delhiites”. He went on to add that healthcare services were one of the prior demands of public and to fulfil this requirement of world class tertiary care the private sector had to participate and join hands with the government to make health facilities available at the doorstep.

On the first day of the camp that was inaugurated yesterday, more than 300 persons registered for a free check-up and underwent tests, including ECG, blood pressure and blood sugar. The Chairman of the DHLI, Dr Ganesh Mani, said that in Delhi around 12-13 per cent people were at the risk of suffering from heart diseases.

The three-day camp will continue till the 28th of this month between 9 am and 2 pm.

Paschim Heroes, Royal Bengal earn full points
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, June 27
Paschim Heroes and Royal Bengal earned full points in Group II matches of the Delhi Soccer Association B Division Open Clubs League Championship on Friday.

While Paschim Heroes drubbed Delhi Tigers 8-0 at the Ambedkar Stadium, Royal Bengal earned full points without sweating it out as their opponents, New Friends Club, failed to turn up for their match at the Nehru Stadium East ground.

The DSA has, meanwhile, decided to suspend further matches of those clubs who concede two consecutive walk-overs, and will also declare those clubs who concede more than three matches as “non functional”.

In a lop-sided match at the Ambedkar Stadium, Paschim Heroes took the lead through Deepak who scored in the fifth minute of the game with a powerful shot from the top of the box. Thereafter, a brace each by striker Parveen and defender Shyam gave Pachim Heroes a handsome 5-0 lead by half time.

On resumption, Rajesh, Shyam and substitute Khalil scored in that order to complete the tally.

Saturday’s fixtures: Delhi Students vs Lodhi Club (4.30 pm)—Ambedkar Stadium. Goodwill Club vs Gulabi Bagh (4.30 pm)—Nehru Stadium East ground.

Cartoon book on cricket launched
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, June 27
A book on cricket cartoons by well-known cartoonist Sudhir Tailang, titled “Cricket Here and Now”, was launched by former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev at a glittering function held at the Inter-Continental, The Grand hotel, in New Delhi, on Wednesday night.

The book release function coincided with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of India’s historic World Cup title triumph.

Incidentally, India made their Test debut on this day way back in 1932. Author Sudhir Tailang explained that he had tried to capture “different aspects of the game of the willow. I have often used cricket as the sight-screen and against this backdrop, I have bowled many political players out”.

“We must learnt to win with humility and lose with dignity and more importantly, remember to smile in both cases,” said publisher Shobit Arya of Wisdom Tree.

The hilarious cartoons capture the real essence of cricket, and bring a smile on the reader’s lips.
