Fine all round performance by two brothers, Lalit Malhotra (32 runs and 5 for 36) and Bharat Malhotra (60 n.o. and 3 for 23), enabled Anil Bharti XI beat Lokesh Khanna XI by two wickets and register their second consecutive victory in the seventh Chaman Lal Malhotra Cricket Cup Tournament (U-14) being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association at the Arya College for Boys ground here today.
Anil Bharti XI won the toss and invited Lokesh Khanna XI to bat. They were dismissed for 149 runs in 28 overs. Only three batsmen, Parveen Kumar (49), Sarfraz and Gaurav (13 each), could reach the double figures.
Requiring 150 runs to win, Anil Bharti XI batsmen too found themselves in dire straits and were struggling against fine bowling of Mohit and Sarfraz before surpassing Lokesh Khanna XI’s total after losing eight wickets in 21.1 overs. Mohit and Sarfraz grabbed three and two wickets, respectively. Anil Bharti XI made 153 to record a victory.
