Sarvjan Manch to contest election Hisar, June 8 Addressing mediapersons here today its president, Mr Sarvdanand Arya, said the manch had constituted its units in 45 assembly segments and the rest would be constituted by the end of this year. He said his party would contest the next assembly election after forging alliance with other like-minded parties. He said no state government had fulfilled hopes of the people of Haryana. The manch opined that political importance should be given to every section of the society on the basis of its population. Without any discrimination, all government jobs should be given on the merit basis, he added. Mr Arya alleged that all political parties of Punjab and Haryana had been failed to find out a solution to the SYL issue. He said the state government was exploiting urban people and landowners through enhancements by HUDA. Criticising the state government he alleged that the state government was forcing private school owners to close their institutions. He demanded that the state government should provide Rs 50 per quintal as bonus to farmers on minimum support price. Later he also addressed a worker meeting at Punjabi Dharmshala here. |
Martyr’s status to Bhindranwale decried Sirsa, June 8 Mr Laxman Das, a social worker and BJP activist, who had shifted with his family to Sirsa during terrorism in Punjab said that this had revived bad memories of the phase. He said, it was shameful to give a martyr’s status to a person who encouraged social disharmony in the state and in the entire region. He said it was high time the BJP reviewed its alliance with the Akalis or ensured that the social fabric was not ripped again. He said peace and social harmony in Punjab had been restored with difficulty. Mr Amar Singh, a social leader in the Sikh community here expressed his anguish over this decision and said it had nothing to do with religion; it is a politically motivated decision of those who can’t live without power. Denouncing this decision, he was of the opinion that a sacred place like the Golden Temple should not have been allowed to become a shelter for terrorists. Advocate Gurdev Singh said that Mr Badal, who never cared for Bhindranwale and his associates during his rule in Punjab has started crying for a cause, which had destroyed social harmony. He questioned why this decision was not taken earlier when he was at the helm in Punjab and took all credit for tercentenary celebrations. He said that this decision was purely a political one following, which common people could only pray that the black chapter in the history of Punjab was not repeated. Another advocate Avinash Singh was deeply pained and opined that nobody was following the teachings of the ‘Gurus’, who always preached harmony and denounced those who believed in bloodshed. He also criticised Akali leadership for this decision and said that it was unfortunate that a political party who lost power recently had again resorted to political gimmicks just for vested selfish interests at the cost of social amity. Mr. Janak, a businessman, who migrated during the peak of terrorism with his entire family to Sirsa felt that this decision had reopened their wounds. He reacted to the decision of giving martyr status to Bhindranwale and said that a person who propagated and patronised terrorism in Punjab could not be a martyr. He wanted that the conspiracy to mislead the masses must be nipped in the bud for peace and harmony. Educationists, Dr R. C. Punia and Mrs Jagdish Kaur
Oberio, call this decision political, unfortunate and against humanity. Both questioned why a closed chapter should be opened again just for political purposes. |
