MANDI GOBINDGARH
MEETING: The Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) call of the Punjab Pradesh Congress has convened a meeting on June 10 at Mai Ananti Dharamshala, Sirhind, to discuss the non-implementation of the promises made at the time of elections by the Congress government. Mr Lal Singh Taura, state secretary of the cell, said in a press note here on Thursday that Mr Mohinder Singh Kalyan, member of the Lok Sabha and chairman of the cell, would address the meeting. SENTENCED: Ms Jyotsana Sumant Dhadhawal, Judicial Magistrate, First Class, here has sentenced Chainram of Kansakothi village under Roharu police station in Shimla district to six months’ rigorous imprisonment and an additional fine of Rs 1,000 under Section 457, IPC, and also to six months’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 511, IPC, and to undergo one month’s simple imprisonment in default of payment of the fine. Earlier, Assistant Public Prosecutor Naresh Ghai told the court that on January 23 this year Chainram was caught red-handed inside the house of Vinod Kumar of Guga- Bhated, near here, stealing articles.
