Katwal’s interim bail extended Shimla, May 30 Extending the interim bail, Mr Justice K.C. Sood directed the state government to produce the entire record of the case before the court. Mr Katwal alleged in his bail plea that the Vigilance Department had registered a case against him under Sections 420, 467,468,471 of IPC and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and he had apprehensions of his arrest in the case. He further averred that a false case had been registered against him and it was a politically motivated move to harass him. In another matter, Mr Justice M.R. Verma granted ad interim bail to Subhash Chand, who alleged that his name had been falsely implicated in the HPSSSB job scam. He had been named in the FIR on the basis of a statement made by Mr Sudhir Nischal Chadda, prime accused in the case. In his plea, he alleged that the investigating agency was bent upon arresting him though he had been falsely implicated in the case. While granting the interim bail to the petitioner, Mr Justice Verma directed the procecution to produce the relevant records by June 4. |
Nahan shocked at murder Nahan, May 30 Ms Padmesh Kaur was quite popular among the people of this area, particularly Nahan town. She lived for about 15 years with a royal family of this town, with which she was having close relations. People closely associated with her say she was very submissive, simple and a noble lady, who had an urge to help the poor and the needy. She was married to an Army officer of a high status family. Her daughter Shagun got married in Delhi about eight years back. At the time of the marriage Padmesh Kaur was residing with the royal family of Nahan. A member of this family played a key role in arranging of this marriage. About two and half years back Padmesh Kaur left Nahan and had not been seen in the town since then. |

for bright students Dharamsala, May 30 The chairman said that the board was committed to improve education in Himachal and award scholarships to bright students. He said earlier the board gave merit scholarships to students of X and XII examinations. The board will spent Rs 2,29,200 on scholarships to X and +2 students this year. Mr B.R. Rahi made a surprise check of Gurukul Senior Secondary School and checked records and also held discussion with teachers. The board chairman had received complaints about working of the school. |
HPSSSB scam accused gets bail Una, May 30 However, the accused was remanded in judicial custody because the counsels for the accused feared the arrest of their client in another case and therefore did not furnish the bail
bond. Chadda’s counsels M.L. Sehejpal and Anil Kapila argued that the investigating agency had projected Chadda’s arrest as a major breakthrough which would be a great help in bringing to light the irregularities in the recruitments done by the
HPSSSB. However, they said during the last six days, nothing substantial had come to light.

Chief Secy given exemption Shimla, May 30 Yesterday the chief secretary was directed to appear personally in the court and file an affidavit with regard to the stand of the state government on this issue. In compliance with the orders, the Chief Secretary appeared before the court. A Division Bench directed the Chief Secretary to file a comprehensive and detailed affidavit on the issue. |
4 animals die in fire Una, May 30 Naib Singh, son of Bhawan Singh lost his house and three buffaloes, while Dhanni Devi, widow of Tulsi Ram lost her house and cattle shed to the fire. Another calf, belonging to Ram Krishan also perished in the cowshed. The cowshed, belonged to Gurdev Singh, son of Khazan Singh was also gutted. The Una Naib Tehsildar visited the spot and gave away an immediate assistance of Rs 2000 each to the first two victims, while the latter were given an immediate relief of Rs 1000 each.

50 school kids
down with mumps Hamirpur, May 30 This is the second time in this week that schoolchildren in a large number are down with some disease. Earlier, nearly 50 students of Sainik School at Sujanpur Tihra suffered from chicken pox.
