Kashish, Shruti bag TT titles

Ludhiana, May 21 
Kashish Jain and Shruti annexed titles in boys and girls sections, respectively, in the Inter-class Table Tennis Tournament at the Alpine International Senior Secondary School, Civil Lines, held here yesterday. More than 30 paddlers took part in the meet. Ms Rajeshwari Dhir, Principal of the school, gave away prizes to the winners.

 Results: Boys- (q-finals) Kashish Jain beat Ramit 11-8, 11-5; Manraj beat Raghav 10-12, 11-9 and 11-8; Nandan beat Deepak 11-8, 11-7 and Varun beat Mitesh 13-11, 11-9; semifinals — Kashish Jain beat Manraj 11-8, 11-5; Varun beat Nandan 11-7, 5-11 and 12-10; Final — Kashish Jain beat Varun 11-8, 11-9;  (Girls) — semi finals- Sakshi beat Samriti 11-9, 11-9; Shruti beat Maninder Kaur 12-10, 9-11 and 11-7; Final — Shruti beat Sakshi 11-13, 11-9 and 12-10.

Shooting meet The XIIth Ludhiana District Shooting Championship will be conducted at the Grewal Sports Complex of Kila Raipur near here on May 24 and 25, according to a press note issued here yesterday by Mr G.S. Garcha, general secretary, District Rifle Association, Ludhiana. Competition in air rifle and air pistol, 0.22 rifle and standard pistol for sub-junior, junior and open categories for men as well as women will be held in this two-day meet. Entries may be sent by May 23 to Mr Garcha (phone-2431964) or Mr N.S. Bhogal, senior vice-president of the association, at phone no- 5004093. 

These will also be accepted at the venue upto 10 am on May 24. The performance during this championship will be taken into consideration while selecting the district teams for the forthcoming Punjab State Shooting Championship slated to be held at the shooting range of SAS Nagar from June 6 to 8, the note said.

Bajwa re-elected DFA president

Ludhiana, May 21
Mr Shivtar Singh Bajwa was unanimously re-elected the President of the District Football Association, Ludhiana, during the general house meeting of the association held at National Public Senior Secondary School, Jammu Colony here today. Members of the general house and representatives of the affiliated football clubs attended the meeting. The house authorised Mr Bajwa to nominate other members of the executive committee. 

The members of the new executive committee are: Senior vice-president — Mr Harnaik Singh Sarabha; vice-presidents — Mr Dupinder Singh Sekhon, Mr Kirpal Singh Sagar and Mr Gurjeet Singh Sohal; honorary secretary — Mr Tara Singh Lotey; joint secretary — Mr Kanwar Jatinder Singh; cashier — Mr Harbhajan Singh Tanda; joint cashier — Mr Amardeep Singh.
