Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures rose markedly in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, rose in east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were above normal in Himachal Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region.

The highest temperature in the region was 44.8°C recorded at Jalore (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 17, 2003: Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Isolated duststorm/thunderstorm is likely in west Rajasthan. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 17, 2003: Mainly clear sky with dust haze. Strong surface winds likely during afternoon. Maximum temperature will be around 41°C.
