Love Dale Club holds sports day

The Love Dale Club organised sports day yesterday. Children came dressed up in white uniform. More than 100 students participated in various events.
Winners in 100 meter race were Anmol, Arnav, Jannat, Shobita, Shrey, Jasjot, Diksha, Harsh, Shourya, Simardeep; banana race winners are Vazul, Simarpreet, Anmol, In hurdles Harsh, Shourya, Parnika and Madhur.

In frog race, Ayudia, Jhanvi, Nahmat, Hargunn Sanil won gold medals and in lemon race Vibhu, Amriti, Niharika won the top positions.

LDCA selects 37 probables: As many as 37 probables (under-19) have been selected during the trials conducted by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA) at the Arya College for Boys ground here today for the Regional Coaching Centres being run by the association under the aegis of the Punjab Cricket Association at the same venue.

According to Mr Vinod Chitkara, honorary general secretary, LDCA, these boys have been advised to report to Mr Naresh Marwaha, joint secretary of the association, at the college on May 6 at 4 pm.

The probables are: Varun Gupta, Karan Goel, Tarun Kanish, Ashish Vinayak, Gurpreet Khaira, Rajat Bhatia, Prabhjot Khatra, Sachin Sharma, Rattan Bricher, Ashish Sehgal, Dushyant Kohli, Harjit Singh Panesar, P.P. Singh, Charandip Singh, Gaurav Dawar, Amrit Pal Singh, Jimmy Goel, Paramvir Singh, Ankit Walia, Tarang Bharti, Sumit Khelan, Gaurav Joshi, Saravjit Singh, Aditya Dass, Vipan Khurana, Manjinder Singh, Neeraj Dhingra, Amardeep Rana, Robin Singh, Sandip Sehgal, Varun Verma, Ankur Chaitley, Bhupesh Sharma, Gurpreet Singh, Rahul Sharma, Gurpreet Singh and Karan Dhiman.

4-wicket win for PAU-XI

A fine all-round display by Baljeet Singh (2 for 31 and 31 runs) and Nitin (45) enabled the PAU-XI to register four-wicket victory over the Singhania Club in the 8th Invitation Cricket Cup Tournament being organised by the College of Agriculture Club of Punjab Agricultural University at the PAU ground here today.

Batting first, the Singhania Club made 159 for 6 in their quota of 25 overs. Iqbal Singh scored 30 which included three hits to the fence and Rajan contributed 40 runs with the help of three sixes. Sachin chipped in with 21 runs. For the PAU-XI, Baljeet Singh and Yogeshwar grabbed two wickets each conceding 31 and 20 runs, respectively.

In reply, the PAU-XI scored 160 for 6 in 23.5 overs. Nitin's fine knock of 45, studded with six fours and a six was followed by Baljeet Singh who cracked 31 while Nirmal Singh remained unbeaten on 24. For the Singhania Club, Rajan was the most successful bowler who claimed two for 32.

The second match, slated to be played between the Oshan Club and the New Friends Club could not be held as the former failed to turn up and the tournament committee awarded the match to the New Friends Club.

Easy victory for Chahal Club

The Gill Sports Club of Ghawadi and Chahal Club of Dhangora won their respective matches to keep hopes alive to make it to the last four in the Taj Resort Six-a-Side Hockey League Tournament being held at the Mata Sahib Kaur Stadium of Jharkhar village, near here, today. In the second-round matches, Gill Club defeated Mata Sahib Kaur Academy, Jharkhar 2-0, while the Chahal Club outplayed Badesha Club of Sarihn in an identical fashion (2-0).

In the first match today, Chahal Club proved too good for Badesha Club and gave them no chance to settle down. Pargat Singh, captain of Chahal Club, put his side ahead in the last minute of the first half while Jasbir Singh Jassa scored the second goal to record their second consecutive victory.

In the second encounter, after the first barren half, Gill Sports Club surged ahead through Kulwinder Singh Tony in the 10th minute of the second half. Three minutes later, they enhanced the lead through Gurmeet Singh to clinch the match 2-0.
