Tribune News Service

New Delhi, April 21
The Shiv Sena has accused the city government of being insensitive to the needs of school students. The allegation was made with regard to the non-availability of NCERT textbooks in the city.

The Delhi Unit of the Shiv Sena slammed the government for what they allege is the “indifferent attitude” to the problems of school students in the capital.

The Vice-President of the Shiv Sena, Mr Abhimanyu Gulati, said even after a month of the current academic session having elapsed, the NCERT books were not yet available. He said the Delhi Education Minister had not made any effort for making the books available.

Accusing the minister of being insensitive and irresponsible, Mr Gulati said the career of thousands of students was at stake unless corrective steps were taken. The Shiv Sena leader also dismissed the claims of the NCERT Director, Prof J. S. Rajput, that there was no dearth of textbooks in the market.

He also issued a warning that the Shiv Sena together with parents of students would launch an agitation if the government did not take the initiative to help the students.
