UT league cricket tourney

The management of the Accountant General office, Haryana, has taken a serious note of the concealing of vital information relating to participation in the ongoing UT league cricket league tournament by some of its cricket players. It may be recalled that some players of the AG, Haryana had forwarded a team to the organisers, the UT Cricket Association, under their official banner, but without taking any written permission from the office. The team that played some matches in the past few days, also had few players who were not on rolls of the AG office. On being asked, Mr M Deena Dayalan AG, Haryana, condemned the said incident and said if it was true, it had certainly tarnished the image of their office. He assured to look into the matter.

Nagar panchayat to take over private tubewells
Bipin Bhardwaj

Zirakpur, April 21
To meet the water requirement of the residents of the area, the Zirakpur Nagar Panchayat authorities are likely to take over all tubewells sunk by colonisers in their respective colonies falling within the civic body limits.

According to sources, the Zirakpur Nagar Panchayat authorities have chalked out a plan for taking over all tubewells in sunk by colonisers before the formation of the civic body.

It may be recalled that dozens of colonies were developed in a haphazard manner in the area before the Punjab Government constituted a Nagar Panchayat by merging seven villages about three years ago.

A numbers of property dealers and colonisers had developed various colonies in these villages and sunk tubewells for luring customers. Certain deep-bore tubewells were drawing enough water, while certain others, sources claim, have started drying up.

Taking a serious view of public complaints regarding water shortage in the area, the Zirakpur Nagar Panchayat authorities have decided to take over these tubewells for ensuring better water supply in the area.

Presently about eight tubewells are fulfilling the water requirement of the area. Of these eight, four have been installed in Dhakauli, Bartana, Lohgarh and Bhabhat villages by the government, while others were owned by colonisers.

The President of the Zirakpur Nagar Panchayat confirmed that the proposal of taking over the tubewells owned by colonisers was under consideration. He said a meeting had been held with the colonisers on the issue. He said three tubewells owned by colonisers would be taken over by the civic body and two new ones would be sunk to ensure better water supply to the residents.

A meeting of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage officials and the colonisers would soon be held to finalise the proposal, he said.
