A little village located just north of Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh has had enough of Punjab. Frustrated by sustained apathy of the Punjab Government, Masol village now wants to try its luck with Haryana.

Mayor ‘under pressure’ on encroachment issue

Mayor Subhash Chawla seems to have buckled under "pressure from the party and a powerful business lobby" in removing violations in the backlane of hotels in Sector 35, giving the seven-year long struggle of the residents a setback.

Flats of Air Force personnel in Sector 47-A and B here are in a deplorable state. Beams have fallen in some flats while in other places the cement has peeled from the beams exposing the iron. Roots of trees are embedded in walls resulting in cracks. These flats can easily be classified as ‘unsafe’ buildings.

Viral infection hits poultry belt
Over one lakh egg-laying hens have been affected by the Ranikhet disease in BarwalaBarwala (Panchkula), April 15
Over one lakh hens have died during the past three weeks in this biggest poultry belt of North India due to a viral infection. Identified as a mutation of the Ranikhet Disease (RD), the infection has now spread to neighbouring areas of Punjab.

Hi-tech cameras installed in Burail Jail

Following the recommendations of the Central Government to step up surveillance in Model Burail Jail, the authorities have installed 11 hi-tech cameras at various sensitive points in the jail and 22 wireless sets have also been provided to the security staff.

Transit remand for four gang members
