SCHOOL “Institutions are turning out highly skilled barbarians
because we do not provide a framework of values to young people who more and more are searching for it”. said Steven Muller, President, Johns Hopkins University. ‘Education trains both the Head and Heart’. The school will get affiliation with the Punjab School Education Board this year. Schoolchildren have appeared in Class X Board Examinations of the PSEB as private candidates and results have been hundred per cent. At present , the school has gained a lot of popularity as Harsh Vidya Mandir is a day-boarding educational institute . The students’ homework is supervised by teachers. Since both parents are working and they do not get time to teach the students, the founder of school, Mrs Meena Sharma, had decided to start a day boarding school. The school provides platform for good education at an affordable fee structure . Nowadays, there has been an explosion of knowledge. Education has not only to teach how to make a living but also how to live fully. One of the aims of the school is to provide education that enhances positive attitude of a child towards future. The school lays emphasis on selecting top grade teachers. The students are taught with the help of audio-visual aid. It is a common knowledge that English is considered to be a universal language, hence the students are prompted to speak in English so that they may strengthen their vocabulary and increase their confidence. The school lays emphasis on sports and co-curricular activities and in- House competitions are arranged at regular intervals. |
‘Education alone can lead to noble feelings’ The main focus of Harsh Vidya Mandir Day Boarding School is to offer good education at affordable fee, says Ms Meena Sharma, Principal of the school. She has been leading the school step by step since its inception in 1998. Since it is a day boarding school, Ms Sharma also supervises lunch served to the students and sees to it that it is nutritious appetising. She says she feels very satisfied when the parents tell her that they watched the progress of the school, and only when they were satisfied, they withdrew their wards from other schools and got them admitted to the HVMS. On education Education alone can lead to noble feelings and these feelings only can uplift a
human being. If the students learn good moral values through well-balanced education in schools, definitely they will also become responsible and patriotic
citizens. I feel that the board prescribes rather easy books of English to Class-VIII students. The level of difficulty should increase as we have to introduce a different set of books. Moreover the syllabus is very vast and should be trimmed and provision for vocational education should be made. On discipline Discipline is a primary factor in maintaining the dignity of every institution. A school without discipline is just like a man without soul. Disciplined life is a key to success. The school maintains good discipline.Ms Sharma says we tell our students to emulate nature. In our surroundings there are so many examples of disciplined way of life observed by birds, plants, animals etc. Moreover, discipline and education are synonymous with each other. Discipline should be self-imposed. It is holistic approach towards life. Since it is a day boarding school, the students are taught to be disciplined in every activity — be it eating food in the mess, in the class room or in the sports field. On religion I like to start with teachings of Buddha: “Wisdom is the lamp, good thoughts the oil, sweet words the flame.” The school believes in these teachings and impart same belief to their students. “Love and share” message is also given by every teacher in her period. Moral values are as important like food for health. “Remember the best way to love God is to love his creation”. Students are encouraged to speak truth irrespective of consequences. |
