Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Punjab and at isolated places in Haryana and east Uttar Pradesh. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cms are - Himachal Pradesh: Bangana, Kandaghat, Ghamroor, Shimla and Sunibhajji 2 each and Bhang, Bharwain, Bhuntar, Dharamsala, Guler, Kahu, Kalpa, Nadaun, Rajgarh, Roharu, Rampur Bushar, Solangnullah, Sujanpurtira, Solan, Sundernagar and Una 1 each. East Uttar Pradesh: Bahraich 1 and Uttaranchal: Tehri 1. Snowfall in cms — Himachal Pradesh: Dhundhi and Patsio 3 each.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell markedly in Punjab, east Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, rose in Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were markedly below normal in Himachal Pradesh, appreciably below normal in Punjab and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 38.3°C recorded at Jhalawar (Rajasthan).

Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttaranchal, west Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were appreciably below normal in Himachal Pradesh, in Punjab and Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 10.8C recorded at Amritsar.

Forecast valid until the morning of April 2: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Uttaranchal. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of April 2: Mainly clear sky. Maximum temperature will be around 34°C.
